That’s “26 years retired”. The 6 key doesn’t work on my laptop.

I got whooped tonight. No sightings or gobbling on the SR49 property.
Tomorrow, I will start my set-up where I left off this morning. I was really close to sealing the deal but, my clock ran out. I have a short window tomorrow as well but, hopefully I can get it done quickly.
The bird this morning is a really nice looking bird. I would love to harvest him. But, I won't be shy about wrapping a tag on his partner either.

Good morning all! I am heading out to give it another go this morning. I am hoping he's roosted close to where I'll be set up. I'll have to be packing up by 8 so I don't have very much time to play with him this morning. Good luck to everyone! Hunt safe and God Bless!

Sitting in the parking area for day number three at this public spot. Never saw a gobbler yesterday but I had one close enough to nearly feel his gobble when he let loose. Hoping to get a little closer today.

Got a late start after snoozing the alarm too many times but myself and the boy made it out to give him a go. Super quiet this morning in the same spot I got my bird. Not a single gobble so we shall see how it goes. Good luck everyone!

Slow morning. Not a single gobble so far. Had 4 hens visit the field for a very short time. Then back the way they came. Still has been a good season so far. My son and his friend both took birds opening morning. Then my Dad took a nice bird yesterday evening. So, I am the lone Soldier now. Lol Hopefully can fill my tag and help my daughter get her first bird this week.

Just wrapping up my hunt now. Had a big Tom roosted about 120 yards from my setup. Had a strutter decoy and a hen decoy out in front of me. He came down off the roost but must have been unsure about the strutter decoy. He worked in a circle around my setup for over an hour but never would commit. Must have gobbled 150 times. Super fun hunt. Maybe I can kill him tomorrow.

Longbeard came into the field. Walked a 45 across the otherside. Never said a word or any interest in my best sounds of a hen in love.

I was set up in the right spot this morning. He was right behind as I anticipated. But, hens came in and took him north. He gobbled quite a bit this morning so I thought that was pretty fun. I did have a jake, lay down hen and feeder hen out in the field. I'm not sure he could see them or not.

Heard several gobbling from the roost again, one pretty close. It sounded like he went the other direction at fly-down though. Heard another one fly down from a stand of pines about 50 yards behind me. That one never made any vocalizations, so it might have been a hen. Sporadic gobbling throughout the morning, some close and some far. Heard a couple of shots. At about 9:00, three jakes came my way. I shot the one in the front, about 20 yards. First turkey from a ground blind. I hunted turkeys off and on for about 15 years without even firing a shot at one, so I'm not picky about a legal bird. I've now got one three years in a row, and I think I've killed three out of my last six outings.

I will be making tomorrow my season opener. I now have Monday off, so will be serious for the next several days. I might go out Sunday for the first trip to the field. Just not seeing the birds. I think between the stray dogs, raccoons, coyotes and fox, the bird population here is hurting.

Hey Lawrencecountyhunter did you kill that bird on your property if so that makes it even sweeter.
Deadeer: you better wear your rain suit or hunt from a ground blind on Saturday.

Ground blinds are up, and poncho packed. I like hunting them in the rain. Have had good luck many times. I have to be out of the field by 11am for awhile Saturday, then assess the remaining days weather.

Took the boy out for a very quiet hunt this morning. Saw 1 hen and zero gobbling. We sat in the same spot I got my bird at on opening day. We may try again this evening if the young hunter is up for it.
