Good job Schall53. I've shot a bunch after 10AM. Was this a lonely bird looking for his hen after she went to nest?

Send Help they have us pinned down. Had twenty or more around us for quite a while now. Won’t come in close enough and won’t leave.

I’m hit and miss on the signal here. My plans for a morning hunt got screwed up with work! So now I am out for the afternoon and evening. For some crazy reason I decided to go up in our East stand, mostly because I had seen a gobbler in full strut a couple hundred yards away. It turned out that he had a bunch of hens with him. Short story, they were working toward my funky chicken decoy and all the sudden skedaddled Back into the woods. Made one heck of a racket! A few minutes later I knew why as a bobcat came walking by, right under my stand! Now to regroup and come up with Plan B!

High Cotton had a good set up going with his decoy. Turkeys were coming in and then suddenly scattered. I guess they didn't like the bobcat. He couldn't post the pic.

If anyone is hunting Brookville there's a hot one firing off in Egypt Hollow.

Got mine at 1:15 pm today. The paintbrush came in at 8am with 2 jakes but wes just too far to my right. Before I could get the gun moved over, it stated to hail and they took off running. I knew they'd be back so I sat and waited - I have trail cam pics of them so I had their pattern down. Then had 3 Jakes come in, and a lone hen made an appearance about once an hour eating something in the food plot. I heard gobbles to the East of me off and on all morning. I didn't bother with any calls or decoy, since they were coming to the food plot on a regular basis. Honestly, I dozed off a bit, woke up and the 2 jakes and paintbrush were back. 25 yds away, the one jake must have been talking dirty to the Tom because he took off after that jake and chased him all over the food plot. never was able to catch him though. Once they settled down I sent the load of #6's on it's way. Dunno what happened, he started running towards me and to my right. With the gun on a trigger stick, all I could do is pivot and shoot. Maybe I shouldn't have, I took off a LOT of flight feathers on the right wing and most of the tail. But, he flopped over dead so I have no idea if it was the 1st or 2nd shot to kill it, I'm guessing that he was dead from the first shot and didn't know it. Biggest bird I've ever shot. The picture makes the beard look small, it's just because the bird is so big. It weighs 27 1/4 pounds. Left spur is 1 1/2", right is 1 3/8", beard is 10 1/8" long but about 3" wide if you flatten it out a bit. No idea how old it is.
