High Cotton had a good set up going with his decoy. Turkeys were coming in and then suddenly scattered. I guess they didn't like the bobcat. He couldn't post the pic. We need a season on them soon. I’m pretty sure I had one sneaking up on my decoys before it got good light. I could see it moving but it was a black blob. I moved my head to try and get a better look and it took off.

Super slow for me today. Don’t think any gobbled on the property I was hunting. Stayed until about 12:30 and called it a day. It was silent after about 8:00.

I sat mostly quiet this morning, heard a good one gobble from the roost in the same general area as last spring. I didn't start making any calls until a good while after silence about 8:30 AM. I started having problems with my ceramic side that I didn't clean up for this season. The call started getting dull and squeaky. I stop and about 10 minutes later I catch a white and blue head pop out from behind a tree. Outside my comfort zone. I watched him for a bit, he had an impressive beard. I noticed when he finally noticed my decoys and he started a wide circle away and started scratch and pecking for food. I made some horible soft pitched clucks and he gobbled once. Never strutted at all. He wouldn't come inside my comfort zone. So I took it as my first encounter with a Tom while turkey hunting! Man the fever I had when I first seen him! I don't think I am going out tomorrow which is a very hard call. Friday I will hit the woods but taking my son with me. We will see if we can't rebuttle. The cheap Jake decoy is history. As he is catching the blame for it. He looks like he is from the bad side of town anyways.

Late report. Had to leave kind of early opening morning, as my buddy had to be to work for 10-11am, and I work 2nd shift, but didnt get crap for sleep, like 2hr, so needed a nap.
Called in 3 longbeards to about 75yds of our spread, and all hung up. We had a tom decoy out with hens in a corner field. I was sitting in a chair with mesh blind in front, and my cowboy style hat above it. My buddy was on a low turkey chair. The sun was straight on us. I snuck out to grab the tom decoy to see if it helped. When I looked back at my buddy, our setup stood out. So not sure if it was decoy or us. Never got another chance. Bet we heard 25 different birds gobbling on the roost, near and far. We were pumped. When we got up to leave, one took off in the woods behind us. He was surely coming to some last minute calling. Oh well.
I will be back in the morning for awhile. All birds were initially heading to a different corner when we turned them our way. So I will be in ambush mode in that area!
Congrats to all the successful hunters.

I did an all day hunt yesterday. No activity for me since 11am though. Not a sighting or sound. My buddy, however, tagged a nice bird.
For some reason, I expected an all day turkey to be as eventful as an all day deer hunt. It just seemed different I suppose. Maybe if I had seen or at least heard more it wouldn't had been too bad. To be honest, I probably won't do that again.
But, that was yesterday. This is today. I see a lot of you will have a wet early morning. It'll start up here around midmorning. Hopefully I can set up on some birds and get some action beforehand.
Congratulations to all you filled their tags yesterday!!!
Good luck, hunt safe, stay healthy and God bless!

Yesterday the Toms followed the hens out to the field tried calling but couldn’t pull one away. I have moved my blind to where all Turkey’s have unturned the field hopefully this works.

I'm in my blind and ready to roll. I brought my camera out with me so, pun intended!
Birds are gobbling in every direction.
I put in a total of 8, 427 steps yesterday. I logged 978 steps walking to my blind this morning. I will have considerably less steps today but, it's fun keeping track.

I made it to the field. Sure didnt want to with minimum sleep 2 days in a row, but what the heck. Birds gobbling like their stupid, lol. Two on the roost I can see about 125yds. In a different spot today, closer to the bulk of the gobbling yesterday, and their still going at it. Stay tuned...

Got my first gobbles of the morning very close by. They were dead silent just after daylight yesterday. Hoping for a turn around today!

My hunt ended last night with plenty of action. Toward sunset I was working two Toms and a group of hens. And lo and behold my friend, the bobcat decides to bust them up. Pretty crazy day! Duty calls with the workload so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get out again!
