I've developed a 358 midget round for deer legal indiana What type of wildcat cartridge? What's the parent cartridge, and are you using it in the Russian Moslin rifle?? My Brother has an old Moslin M-44 carbine, which he just purchased for decoration. It still shoots and he has ammo for it. I always wondered if one could use a shorten round (legal length) & a .358" bullet. <Interesting project.>

I thought about doing that when they went to 1.8", but my .358 WSSM is all the velocity that I will ever need. That could be a fairly inexpensive, straight-forward build. Although you may not need it for use on private property if the current proposed bill passes.

I've always wondered if a Moslin M-44 could be re-barreled for such rimmed cartridges like: the .30-30, .444 Marlin, or even cartridges like the .25-35 & the .219 Zipper.

The hardest part was developing the brass, so far using h4895 powder , I've reached 2500 fps with 200 gr. Bullet with no pressure sign. Going to try a faster powder

So, this case would allow a seating depth of 0.055" or so, is that about right?

Seating depth? .055 don't understand question, do you into neck of case? The reason you don't understand is because I asked the wrong question! What I meant to ask is, what is the neck length after you trim to 1.800".

OK about .320

It looks to me as if you cut .320 off the neck and are left with about .055 neck to hold the bullet.
Do you know the grain weight of water it takes to completely fill the case (case should be fired and not resized)? The 358 Hoosier I have is about 51 grains of water.

Not sure, I'll check it. I know I can put 46 gr of h4895 in it without being a compressed load
