We've had a lot of fun in the turkey and deer "contests" and some have mentioned doing a waterfowl contest.
I'm open to suggestions on how to run it. So far we have had a couple of suggestions.
Any more?
Suggestions....
Varmint101 – “Heaviest goose weight? Best tailgate picture?”
Decatur –‘Heaviest goose+2 heaviest ducks weight combined. Tiebreaker is decided by who had their birds entered first.’

Heaviest Goose works ....... I like the best Tailgate pic too ....... 11(or more) kids with dead birds layed out in front of them just can't loose that one ....... :-) OK, but what happens if the first goose right out of the bag is Andre the Giant Goose and nobody can beat it and nobody enters a goose after that? The "contest" could be over before it even gets going good. We need something that will generate interest all season long.. As I said I dont do ducks, but if you guys come up wth something we can play. Maybe the most "limits" or most banded birds? Or a combination of things with points awarded for each thing? Maybe keep on making suggestions and we can then run a poll on the rules and criteria?

Hunting isn't all about limits ( Come on Woody you know better :-) )
Bands ...what are bands ? However we can have a distance contest for the band collectors ...farthest distance of band collected .
Heaviest Goose is about like the Turdy-pointbuck contest ain't it ? Just when ya think ya got the fat guy , someone else bags the monster on the last day ....

Maybe some kind of point system?
X points for a mallard drake
X points for a black duck
X points for a Canada goose
XX points for the heaviest Canada goose
XX points for a banded bird..
- X points for a hen
etc. etc, etc..
You guys know which is the toughest birds to get.....can we do a point value or would that be tough to keep up on?

That sounds pretty good woody. If you all are going to use a point system someone smarter than me on ducks and geese will have to coem up with what points for what bird. ll I know if it quacks it's a duck and if it honks it's a goose....

Looks like we certainly have a lot of interest in this.
All we need is for someone to come up with the rules and regulations.
Any of you waterfowl guys want to take a stab at it?
Maybe we need a "rules committee"?

Hens, coots, & mergansers of any sort... -1 points, and we need visual proof that you punished yourself further by letting the wet muddy dog ride in the cab of the truck on the way back.
Drakes of any sort... 43,560 points each. That is just how important they are, and it is also the number of square feet in one acre.
Geese... 10 points a piece. They are something for duck hunters to shoot when they get bored, and they make good fajitas.
I may also be able to donate some fabulous prizes if I can find the stupid things...

I thought it was the other way around, ducks are what you mess with when waiting for the geese to fly.
We don't need no stinking games!!!! Just lots of ducks and geese, show off the pics during or after the season and make fun of each others mistakes.

Maybe we need a contest between the duck guys and the goose guys?
I figured if I had Indy hunting with me I had this contest locked if we were talking goose numbers but now says he's not goose hunting anymore. Is there anyone else out there that wants to bring me lucky limits on every hunt?

supr87, I'm needing someone to fill Duffs blind now that hes got a real job. Of course I'll have to keep an opening for him when he can get permission to come out and platy. I've already locked in a couple of my regular properties and hopefully get out next weekend to get a few more. If you want to hunt the decoys are ready at a moments notice.
