Feather I think you may have taken this wrong. This is only for bragging rights, like the turkey contest, not for any great high dollar prizes. I'm not going to hunt more often or stay afield any longer just to possibly put another bird in my bag so that I increase my chances of winning. Of course I was hoping I was going to get my picture in Sports Afield with this years turkey. ;D So I don't believe anyone who enters this contest is going to attempt to take more than what they would if not being a contestant. That is except for Duff, he's a numbers kind of guy.

As I have been told before...
I didn't wake up this freaking early to talk to my buddies, drink luke warm coffee, watch the sun rise, or watch the geese fly by yet again. Birds in the dekes is a beautiful thing. When the land on the water or field it makes them easier to shoot too!
But I will not enter into this contest cause if I can't win I won't play!!!!!

Ya gotta lighten up featherduster... Nobody is gonna go slaughter a ton of ducks just because of a silly "contest" on this site. It's all for fun, just so we can taunt and poke fun at each other. The only animals that will be harmed during the execution of this contest are ones that would have been harmed anyway. LOL. Woody just asked for opinions on how to manage the contest, nothing is carved in stone....just some ideas floating around. I personally think extra points should be awarded for coots...just to get rid of em...man those things are nasty! LOL.

Okay some one needs to come up with an idea here very quickly. I need to get mentally prepared to win.

How about the three best hunts for each hunter are scored? Geese and mallard drakes are worth 10 points a piece, wood duck drakes are worth 15, teal drakes are worth 20, and all hens are worth 5. I also think the number of shells used on each hunt should be subtracted from that hunts score. Each band could be worth 5 bonus points and additional bonus points could be awarded for the heaviest goose, most bands, most species, and best picture. Perhaps 25 bonus points for each category?

mbogo, you must have a hot spot for woodies and teal. I'll have to get out and fatten up my geese and maybe even put a few bands of these birds. I guess it's better than just the heaviest goose or best picture. How many point deduction for dog half eaten birds?

I didn't start waterfowl hunting until two years ago when a former co-worker got me started. I've been 4-5 times and killed one wood duck so its pretty safe to say I wouldn't recognize a hotspot if one walked up and introduced itself, lol! However I figure if we are going to subtract the number of shots fired then the contestants should be rewarded with extra point for the smaller, faster woodies and teal.

10 pt bonus for "breaking the bill" with your shot???
This contest might be more difficult than figuring up a pitcher's ERA!!!!

You can count me in.
I say -5 for a hen but then I'm a little bit biased about letting Susie fly.
I'm hoping to get out more this year than I have in the past.

JUST UNDER 3 WEEKS,,,,,I AM PUMPED!!!!! Yeah, Good idea.. We will probably go with something like that. It will be tough enough counting points on bucks and all the does in the deer "contest" without trying to keep count of every feathered creature doing a nose dive. What do you says guys.. Good idea? .

Dang, if we're going with the best spread I'm going to need another 15dozen decoys . Oh yea and now a bigger trailer for all this crap. You all couldn't just leave it with the heaviest goose could you. I'm in.

How are we to determine teams? I'm in an area that is on fire early in the year, but the well dries up quickly once the weather starts to move in. Also, on the best spread, how would that be determined? I've seen Art's trailer and it scares me, but I've taken limits over a doxen or less.

I say keep it simple.......what pic(s) generate the most "WOWS" from the judges. It could be one guy with an awesome limit, several guys with lots of bands, someone with something unique.....whatever is impressive.

Does this mean I'm going to have to start wearing make-up and washing my hunting cloths??
