Anyone regularly see deer from their front or back porch? This will be my first winter here in lovely Morgan county and I have noticed that the cold weather has deer grazing in my yard frequently. I will shoot from the house, porches, or garage without hesitation if an opportunity presents itself in muzzleloader season. Who else would do this? I am seeing more in the back yard that I have from the stand lately...funny.

I've always wanted to live somewhere where I could do that. I always thought it would be smart to shoot at least one a year to keep them from getting too brave and decimating a garden or flower bed. Good luck with it.

The wife might not like a gut pile in the yard but, it would be a short drag. Even trade if you ask me!!!!

I have deer in my yard all the time. I have 8 five foot tall Norway Spruce trees along the edge of my yard. Last year a buck rubbed one towards the top and didn't do to much damage. This year a buck about trashed a diffrent one. He stripped all the branches off on the the top half of the tree. Also I have a security light pole 30 yds from my front porch and it gets rubbed every year. When I put my two year old son to bed at night we always look out his window to see if we see deer in the front yard. Half the time we do. The security light lights up the front yard pretty good. If only they would come in the yard during daylight I wouldn't hesitate to shoot one.

Once in a long while I see one I could do that with (never during season). My older daughter saw a doe walk right beside our hot tub shortly before archery season.

I've had people ask if I would shoot their "backyard" deer. It holds no interest for me. I wouldn't mind hunting within walking distance of my house, but that's another deal.
Assuming it's legal to shoot in such a location, I might be tempted to shoot a doe if the person asking actually wanted the meat and offered to pay for the bonus tag. I would not use my buck tag for that kind of "hunting".

Got an old doe who has had twins for the last 4 years, she has a stub tail so she is easy to spot. Opening day of firearm the big doe, another doe and 4 fawns from this year show up around 5:30 as usual. Then about 10 minutes later a big mature 10 point starts dogging them in my back yard. Many homes around my secluded back yard and I have no desire to shoot momma's deer while they are in the santuary of my back yard.

No way. Got deer in the yard everyday. Would have no problem of someone else doing it if they have a severe over population.

Im surrounded by woods and no houses in sight and live in the country. I've seen everything from fawns to a 150 class buck feeding on persimmons one Christmas day just 25 yards from my back porch door. Numerous times I've had does this firearms season during the day walking on the edge of the woods. Anytime they're in the "yard" it's their refuge. I couldn't bring myself to shooting one.

I could kill deer off the porch everyday, But that is not for me. I Know most people do not look at it the same but I feel it is the same as road hunting and shooting out the truck window. But if I had someone that was to old or unable to to hunt from the woods I would gladly let them hunt from my porch. I pass up many deer in the woods as I enjoy the hunt not just the kill and numbers.

Excellent point, if i where in it for just the kill, i would have quit no sooner than i started as it took me 3yrs to kill my first.
