It's our understanding the state of Indiana is going to the Tele-Check system instead of physical check stations. I would advise the Sportsmen/women of Indiana to go www.whas.com and listen to the last 3 Jim Strader talk shows. He has brought to lite some serious issues with this system that are very eye opening. Good Luck

Is there ANYTHING that the KDF&WR can do right in the eyes of Jim Strader?
The man's show thrives on stirring up controversy.
People can cheat no matter what the check in is..

Telecheck is no different than physical check in... all check in procedures are for "honest" people.... if someone is going to break the law they are going to break the law.... telecheck is not going to change it.... for either the worse or the better.... so why not make it easier on those of us that are law abiding sportsmen and women?

I'm all for the telecheck. I do believe we still need info on turkeys though.

I agree with your opinion of Strader Woody, and that's being kind to him. I don't understand why people can't figure out that if someone is going to cheat they are going to cheat regardless of the check method. This complaining about telecheck makes no sense - the only point I'll concede is it is fun to see other deer at the check station, but that's not enough to keep me from the change.

Tele check makes sense....currently the check in stations are not required look at the animal anyway. Law abiding citizens will continue to be law abidding citizens.

Time to move ahead. Don't let a few hold the whole state back.

Here's an interesting allegation about Strader that is posted in a thread on another site, be interesting to hear from anyone who can verify IF Strader was indeed a resident of Indiana when he purchased the LT License:
"I also wonder how James Nace Strader got an Indiana Resident Lifetime Hunting Licences in 1987 with an address of 812 Howser Road Henryville Indiana 47126 when he was registered to vote at 2466 Grinstead Drive Louisville Kentucky 40204 at the same time. He registered to vote in 1975 and sent the Board of Elections a change of address to his new address (in Jefferson County) in 1991 that indicates he moved from his old Kentucky address to his new Kentucky address.

People can, will and do cheat, regardless of check in procedure.

Sounds like James Nace Strader is doing some cheating himself.

Tele check makes sense....currently the check in stations are not required look at the animal anyway. I live about a mile from my check in station and yesterday I didn't want to mess with loading my doe back up in that cold so I just took my tag down there and checked it in and the deer never left my garage.

Yes stop Tele-Check. Who needs modern stuff. Heck let us stop this thing called the Internet because it has been used by people to run scams. While we are at it, let us stop U.S. Postal Service because it been used to run scams.

Tele Check is so needed when you shoot a deer early in the year and need to get it butchered quick. I shoot one in Sept. this year and got to 95 degrees a couple of days later.

My check in station is my processor. Tele check would not necessarily help me nor would it hinder. Those that are honest and process their own kill it would help. To be totally honest I don't care about it.

If the DNR feels that all deer need to be checked in, then we need telecheck ASAP. Frankly .... I could see dropping the check in requirement all together. It's not like they are gathering much meaningful data from it.
Current system is a total pain in the rear. I shoot a deer in the evening right at dark, by the time I get it gutted and in the truck all of the area check ins are closed. If it is hot, that deer needs to be skinned and stuck in a cooler ASAP. With the current system you have to pack the thing in ice and wrap it up in a tarp in back of the truck, leave it in the truck bed all day while I am at work, then go check it in after work. This is nuts!
