Could just go back to the day when what was it you had to own 15 acres to get a doe tag. Anyone else remember that. Must of been in the 90s I don't ever remember that. Had to be before the 90's. I do remember you used to have to apply for a doe permit and so many were given out per county.

Believed to be a pet.
PARIS, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials reportedly euthanized a mountain lion that was found in Bourbon County Monday afternoon.
Officials told WKYT’s Sam Smith that a woman walking her dog in Bourbon County spotted the mountain lion. The dog might have spooked the mountain lion, which went into a tree.
The woman called animal control, but officials there told her “that's more than what we can handle, you need to call fish and wildlife."
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife euthanized the cat. No one was injured. The cat’s body is supposed to arrive in Frankfort later Tuesday for a necropsy.
Mountain lions are rare in Kentucky. Officials think it was a caged pet that got loose.

Cool, my wife is a childrens minister and gets lots of request from needy people. I donated a couple of deer to families this year and I have talked to her about having a supply at church.

I sent our biologist some concerns about the urban zone and got a reply and there are several things I find interesting: 1. He says comments are 2 to 1 against rifles 2. He says the urban zone will still be archery. DNR page below totally contradicts this. 3. He says they need to hear from hunters more. 4. He says you don't have to kill the bonus quota. I haven't even had a chance to. DNR page says: Allows firearms to be used during the deer reduction (formerly urban deer zone) season, where legal to discharge a firearm, from the first Saturday after November 11 through January 31 of the following year. Use of firearms in deer reduction zones would give communities greater flexibility to manage deer-related problems and should improve deer-harvest success rates. Hi. Thanks very much for taking the time to contact me. I need input from hunters as to what they are seeing out there. I tend to hear from farmers and home owners complaining about deer, and not enough from hunters. The Div. of Fish and Wildlife is trying to find the right balance between what hunters and landowners want, and what’s good for the environment. We in Tippecanoe County seem to have turned the corner on the deer population. It seems the herd is down some based on our data and my perception (I’m seeing fewer deer). That is why we went from a bonus antlerless quota of 8 to 4 this fall. We realize this isn’t a big change, but our administrators like to do a “step down or step back” process and not make too great a change at once. In mid-February I hope to have the results of this falls deer harvest. If the downward trend continues we will likely drop back to a bonus of 3 which will end the late special season. There is some discussion of altering the urban zones around the state. We’ll see on that. As you might imagine, there are plenty of deer in some areas of the county still, and the herd is down in other areas. At a check station opening day, I had about half of hunters tell me they saw fewer deer this year, but still saw a good number. Other hunters said they saw plenty of deer, with one hunter stating he saw 31 deer opening day in his deer stand. If you are seeing too few deer in your area, talk with neighboring hunters and your landowner, and feel free to shoot fewer does. Just because we say you can kill 4 antlerless deer, you don’t have to. Comments I hear from hunters are about two to one against the addition of more center fire rifles. The urban zone will still be archery only, by the way. I will send you a separate email with information on how to email comments to the Natural Resource Commission and the Div. of Fish and Wildlife about the proposed changes. I encourage you to send in comments. As for deer/vehicle accidents, they seem to be coming down indicating fewer deer. Those accidents are not driving more liberal bag limits. I am attaching our deer history sheet for Tippecanoe County (and Montgomery and Fountain Co.). Tippecanoe is the last page. It contains harvest information and deer/vehicle accident information for the past ten years. I think you will find it interesting to look at the trends. We are not far from where we’d like to level off the herd. When at that point, we will try to allow deer harvest at a “maintenance mode.” I trust this helps. Thanks again for writing. If you have more comments, feel free to get back. Dean Dean Zimmerman DNR District Wildlife Biologist 4112 East SR 225 West Lafayette, IN 47906 Ph: 765-567-2152

I know some of you saw my thread below about Tippecanoe Cty. As most of you don't hunt tippecanoe cty I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of what is in the new proposal. The proposal includes changing the urban zone do deer reductions zones making it easier to add and remove areas. The kicker is the gun season in these areas would last until Jan 31st and the additional bag limit would be 10 deer instead of the current 4. You may think no big deal as most hunters aren't going to kill more than 2 or 3 deer. That may be the case but if we have gun seasons this long we are going to see more hunters than ever killing 2 or 3 deer in a year. I have seen a decline in our population here over the years and I don't think it's a good idea to be having a gun season this long. Most of you will probably not care as at this point as it doesn't affect you but it could be easily added to your area. We are currently a 4 bonus county. We were an eight last year. What if they made every county 4 and above a deer reduction area? I'm sure a lot of you wouldn't want this. Let your voice be heard.

So it makes it easier to change these areas so others that aren't worried about this should be. Might be coming to a woods near you soon!

We posted at the same time Woody. I'm more worried about this than rifles. I think this might come to a surprise of a lot of people when new areas get added to the deer reduction areas.

They also are changing these to deer reductions zones to make it easier to adjust these zones so we could see more guns through end of January in other areas. Kill them all!

I only scanned through but I couldn't find where it said firearms would be extended for any extra duration than it is currently. I thought urban tags could only be filled with archery equipment? Hurt my eyes reading all of it on my phone. (d) The urban deer reduction season is as follows: (1) From September 15 through January 31 of the following year in an urban deer reduction zone. (2) Under this subsection: (A) An individual must take not more than four (4) ten (10) deer of which only one (1) may be antlered. (B) At least one (1) antlerless deer must be taken in an urban a deer reduction zone prior to taking an antlered deer. (3) A deer taken under this subsection does not count against a bag limit for deer set elsewhere in this rule. (4) The following areas have been designated (f) During the urban deer reduction season established in section 4(d) of this rule, an individual must hunt deer with bows and arrows described in section 3(b) of this rule from September 15 through January 31 of the following year, and with firearms described in section 3(c) of this rule from the first Saturday after November 11 through January 31 of the following year.

Yes, that's just the bag limit for the formerly called urban zone. Throw on top of that the bag limits for the regular seasons. I consider it basically unlimited does.

Do all you Tippecanoe Hunters realize that the new rules will allow for guns to be in season from the opening of gun season all the way through the end of January in what is currently now called the urban zone. They also want to change the additional bag limits for urban (deer reduction) to 10 from 4. We were dropped from an 8 to a 4 this year so I think this would be a huge step backwards. I don't know about you all but I have seen a big drop in the amount of does the past couple of years. Please make your voices heard at www.in.gov/nrc/2377.htm

Guy hunting same small woods as me shot and scared the crap out of me. I saw a coyote so he may of shot at it. After shot a coyote appeared to be coming towards the shot. I passed on him. Got down and now home. Not real motivated. Don't really need another one. That being said I'll be back out tonight. Lol

It's not basecamp. The buck in question was taken with a true outfitter.

I guess they are not promoting outfitting but they are promoting bucks taken on outfits whether they clearly say it or not. Most people are going to see the comments which is giving that camp some good advertising.
