www.henryusa.com/caliber/350-legend/I've really been wanting one of these. I figure you're looking at an AR though, nothing wrong with that either. I would probably go 20", just because you don't really lose any significant velocity, but you do gain some maneuverability. Looking at a Winchester xpr. Needs to be something Cabela's sells because I have a bunch of points.

What ever one has wood stock and factory sights. Thanks. That's so helpful. What kind of wood? Plywood?

Looking at a .350 legend and trying to decide if I should get the 20 or 22 inch barrel. Not sure if really makes that much difference. Thoughts?

Watching the news on this Texas Mall shooting. Getting tired of these shootings. I know this will probably not go over well here but I'm almost starting to think something has to be done about our easy access to guns. What's the solution? I just don't see this changing. My wife is from Canada and though I don't like all their gun laws they sure don't have the gun violence we do. Our children shouldn't be living in fear.

He only weighed 17.8 lb. 10-in beard and like half incg spurs. I haven't measured them. Not one pellet in the meat. I must have hit him with like one pellet. That a Big Jake ….congrats! I don't think so. Fan is not that of a Jake.

He left so I thought they were coming but it was another gobbler he didn't like apparently. I saw the new bird and about 15 minutes later I shot him. 40 yard shot with 20 gauge heavy shot. When I was gathering my stuff he started to get up and I had to go shoot him again. He's not as big as the other bird but he'll do.

Back out this evening. Have a strutter about 120 out with 2 hens. I'm hoping the 6 amigos don't come and run him off.

Got to my spot and there was a truck in the field. I thought oh no someone else is hunting. Few minutes later they get in the truck and looked like they had a bag of mushrooms. One of them had a full red shirt on. I would never walk in the woods with a red shirt on right now. They field was planted the evening before season. Is it harmless to drive in the field if the crops aren't up yet? I have no idea if they have permission. Owner is an investor and leases the farming rights but I know who farms it. The farmer won’t be happy with someone driving on his planted field! Anyway I know I wouldn’t! That's what I thought. I don't know the farmer directly but I sent a message to someone that does.

Congrats Parker. I think you have motivated me to go out tonight although it doesn't take much. Last night was miserable and I saw less activity than I have the other 3 nights I have hunted.

Not ideal weather but I'm back out. I'm in a blind and it's light rain.

The six amigos are back. I got out of my blind to try to scare them but they are still in the field. Really tired of these guys.

I think I actually have a Jake fan in the freezer that's been there for a long time.

Gobbler in the field last night and I thought it might happen until the 6 amigos saw him from like 250 yards and chased him off.

Experiment. On the youth hunt I put 2 hen decoys out for my nephew. The bird he killed had a bigger bird with a smaller beard with him. They both tried to mount the decoys, the bigger bodies Tom kept running off my nephew’s bird, which he eventually shot. Yesterday I put the hen decoys out again for me. The same big bodied Tom came back but was wary of my decoys only getting within 65 yds but stayed out for over 2 hours. Last night I took my son out and we decided to change things up. I took the hen decoy that looks like she’s looking around and instead of using the spike to put her in the ground I laid her straight in the ground and put a few pieces of wood around her bottom of her body to keep her upright. I then took my jake decoy and stuck it directly behind her looking like he’s practically standing on her. When my sons bird saw that last night just a few yelps and he came running. My sons first shot was probably 3 yds and he missed because the pattern was so tight. Second shot was probably 27ish yds and connected. So I say experiment around. Never use more than one jake decoy and make them look real. Like the thing I did above. If I was in your position I’d do what I did for my son last night. As a matter of fact today I’m out and I never did put my dekes out as I don’t want to over use them. Good idea. Just did this.

Have seen the same two gobblers last night and this morning. This morning 6 Jakes ran them off. Wondering if that means it would be best to not have my Jake decoy out.
