Watching the news on this Texas Mall shooting. Getting tired of these shootings. I know this will probably not go over well here but I'm almost starting to think something has to be done about our easy access to guns. What's the solution? I just don't see this changing. My wife is from Canada and though I don't like all their gun laws they sure don't have the gun violence we do. Our children shouldn't be living in fear.

Canada doesn't have the shootings but Canada didn't have the shooting even before their strong control laws. If someone doesn't use a gun then they'll just use a truck, a bomb, poison, knife, hammer I can go on.

Why don't we just start enforcing laws we already have? Hold the perps accountable. An eye for an eye.
Simple, you shoot up anybody, you get shot on the spot. You get hung in the street for all to see, let the victims families have at the criminal, and best of all, they get their face on the news and newspaper with a bullet hole in their head. There would be the 15 min of fame that some of them seek.

Permitless carry is a stupid idea. Indiana had a good system before. Now there is virtually no way to stop a nut job or felon from carrying a weapon.
I agree something needs to change. I just don't know what.
Strict enforcement of current laws would be a start. Background checks for ALL purchases also. Today, a guy can get out of prison or a psychiatric hospital on Monday, walk into a store and buy a shotgun and shells on Tuesday, and shoot up a restaurant on Wednesday.
It's true that anti-gunners want to take all guns, but some pro-2A people think anyone should be allowed to carry anything, anytime, anywhere.
My fear is that if us pro-2A people don't go along with some modest reasonable changes, we will eventually get something shoved down our throats we REALLY won't like. Think Australia...

I'm pretty sure that a guy could not walk out of prison as a convicted felon and walk into a store and buy a weapon today.

I stand corrected...but online and private sales do not require checks.
I don't know the answer - anybody else?

Here's the answer A more Godly focused nation (world) A return of family values Actual accountability for criminals A return of a national identity Great start for sure! And this is a mental health issue for sure. They'll definitely find the means to kill others without the firearms. It is getting a little tiring seeing all the shootings but, my mind goes straight to the mental health crisis. Not enough hospitals or doctors for those suffering. Too much social media. People are judging their own self worth based on how many "likes" or "followers" they have. Etc. Etc. It just feels like people are putting so much pressure on themselves and creating so much anxiety. People need to learn to love more and hate less.

I stand corrected...but online and private sales do not require checks. I don't know the answer - anybody else? That is incorrect. You cannot legally buy ANY modern firearm online and NOT have to do a background check. Legally the gun has to be sent to a FFL, you go to that FFL, fill out the form, they do the background check and you either get it, or don't get it. That's the problem with the liberal left, telling lies that their sheeple followers believe and don't fact check for themselves. Private sales in Indiana between two Indiana residents do not require a background check. Private sales in Indiana between an Indiana resident and a non-resident of Indiana require a background check and requires running the firearm thru an FFL. If not, it's an illegal purchase. Lie on a form 4473 and here is the outcome: This Form requires buyers to answer several questions, including those about the buyer's competency, criminal history, drug use, immigration status, and history with domestic violence. Applicants who knowingly make false statements may also face criminal prosecution for a felony and up to 10 years in federal prison. SO, why is Hunter Biden not in jail? POLITICO obtained copies of the Firearms Transaction Record and a receipt for the gun dated Oct. 12, 2018. Hunter responded “no” to a question on the transaction record that asks, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” Five years earlier, he had been discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine, and he and family members have spoken about his history of drug use.

Any person who is caught lying on the 4473 should automatically be denied the right to own a firearm. Period. I don't see a problem with having Indiana residents, (selling a firearm to other Indiana residents) complete a background check @ a gun store in the state just as they would if buying from that gun store. Your Social Security number should be required to run a more comprehensive background check on your 4473 as well. If your background check doesn't come back with a proceed, that should stop the sale and the government should send a letter to the address on the 4473 you filled out outlining why you were denied. When that issue (or issues) is rectified, you can fill out another 4473 and purchase a gun @ that time.

Thats already what happens, max 10 years in prison and a felony charge. Felons can't own guns. So not only are you denied the gun you lied about, you forfeit all guns you own.

If they want private sales to require background checks, then private citizens should have free access to the background check system.
Still not the guns. If movie violence, video game violence, and television violence has zero effect on people's decisions then a piece of metal/wood/plastic doesn't either.
As I've repeatedly asked, what law prevents a criminal from committing a crime? We need mandatory minimum sentences. Just like growing up, the rules didn't keep us in line, it was what would happen when we got caught breaking the rules that kept us in line.
