Team 4 Doe 11-1-19 Bow Public Land My first morning in the stand this year...November or not, I needed to break the ice! Not the cleanest pic but all I took as I walked up to her. Also, this popped up on my feed this morning-Becca killed a doe from the same tree 5 years ago today.

What a beautiful morning..weather finally breaks, temps in the 50s & I still havent taken the bow out yet.
BUT the smoker is fired up and 2 front shoulders off a doe are on.. so not a total waste of a morning.

That’s great. Glad he was finally able to take one after grinding it out all week. Yep.. he is flying back to NY in the morning. He bought the NR bundle so he is is sitting tight hoping to double up. Congrats! They're still looking for ladies. My buddy that lives near you, on Barren Fork, walked behind his house yesterday morning about this time just to make sure his ground blind was still in place for his boy that evening. Nice mature buck came cruising by at the same time and he filled his tag. Not much on tine length but dude had some brows and mass

Personally i am scared that someone is gonna take my ladder stand if i strap it to a tree and leave it there. So i normally try to stick with my climber. What Im trying to do this year is to try to find more remote public land and later once the off season comes around to hopefully find some private land to hunt (thats the plan at least) since I am going off to college next year I just want to find some place to go hunting where i don't have to worry about whether or not someone is in my spot since my time to spend hunting will be more limited. Come down to the SW and I can take you to a dozen or more ladder stands that have been abandoned. I cant decide if the same guy with a disposable income or if a dozen different guys learned what a terrible idea it was to haul them back there. I would be shocked if atleast 1 wasnt mine lol

There is a yearling albino buck that is about a mile from where we hunt. He is getting passes from all that have shot opportunities at him. I would pass him too if he came by me.. We all hunt mature deer no matter what color they are. Which direction?

Personally, I'd take any albino or piebald over a good buck... giant buck maybe not? Always been a dream.of mine since before I hunted and my neighbors had an albino buck and doe mounted along with the rest of their bucks.
Had my chance maybe 10yrs ago at the albino, shot low at 30yds and cut her armpit..

Im slacking on the live part of this but had a great hunt this morning with the kid. Had a group of 4 does come off the hill in front of us about 745a like my buck did but worked their way all the way across the valley and through the brush maybe 5yards from us. About an hour later another doe with 2 yearlings worked through about 100yds to our left. I think that was our total for the morning, 7 slick heads, but 2 yearlings did come trotting by from where the 2nd group had gone.
Woke up from the lunchtime nap to a monster doe in the front yard with a 9yr old buck..with an orange collar. An old pet of a neighbors that has roamed free for over a year now. He just started showing up for me a few weeks ago and seems to run with 3 does..that he has made very trusting of humans also.

Definately no deer left in Warrick, even on the farm ground. I think posey county has some great deer, specifically around hovey lake. Best public ground in the state @ Hoveys.

Everybody on here must either be a farmer or related to one. I haven’t seen bucks like you guys are posting on here in 20 some years. Last deer I had harvested was a doe in 2013 and I was happy to see that one. If I see 10 deer a season it’s a good year. Or leased from a farmer.. 3ptbuck puts up some great bucks from public ground.. I think he hunts NW Indiana public ground.... not Warrick county public ground.. 😉 Definately no deer left in Warrick, even on the farm ground.

15 minutes after legal the best buck I had on my last check came over the hill. Let him come to 60-70yds before taking out the top of his heart. Decent 9pt, ran about 50yds. My best public buck and more than anything im tickled the new stand I hung Wednesday worked exactly like it was supposed to.
Only downside is I hung it for my daughter but she didnt go this morning...snooze you lose, it was dads turn lol.

Lock Down

Lock down is not the end of world nor a big deal. So what if a buck stays with a doe 3-4 days?? He will still be up when she's up feeding. (Deer are still feeding and deer are still breeding.) YES peak breeding is near the end but a second round and possibly a third round will be coming early Dec and early Jan. Look for forced movement as well when the firearms army hit the woods this weekend. This...and every doe doesn't come heat same time! Exacly. This is probably my biggest pet peeve in all deer hunting chatter... The rut and any stages related to it are not set by a calendar. Ive seen breeding in late October and seen the best chasing Ive personally seen in Mid December.

I saw the biggest deer Ive seen this year run across an open field at 1230pm yesterday as I got home. 20min later I saw him running another field to check another woods. Probably covered a mile in that time. He wasnt locked on anything but looking.
