Thats wierd. When the guys came down last year seems like they called the game warden and he said no license needed on private land. I always have a license but have never seen i game warden when we were hog hunting. I know there is no season on them.

We haven't needed a license to hunt hogs on private land for a long time. Maybe this is for public land. Its good they shouldnt require a license on hogs for anyone anywhere as long as you have permission.

Fat sow about 125 lbs. Pork chops for dinner tonight. Caught 2. Nice work by the dogs. Tits deep in a slough to get to the first one. Good times.

We ended up catching 3 Friday 1 Saturday and 5 Sunday. Nothing much to get to excited about except that we had some young dogs do some good work. Biggest hog of the bunch 150 lbs or so.

He's had a couple weeks off. I promise it isn't hard to get him to catch one. He caught the first little pig he saw when he was a pup and everyone I've turned him loose on since. Its definitely a tough profession for a dog but they love it. Probably harder to get him to stay home than fight hog When you go out in the morning to pick your dogs they are all bouncing and barking ready to go.

Headed out in the morning. Haven't been since the guys from Indiana were down. Going to be cold 19 degrees in the morning. Hopefully we don't get wet. I'll put some pics up if we do any good.

We've tried some of the sausage and pork chops, both were excellent. My wife thought the pork chops tasted like they came from the store, so I guess she approves. We put all the meat in the same coolers for the trip home, so I don't really know what meat came from which pig. The sausage will be more or less a composite. I did keep 2 of the smaller hindquarters out for whole smoking, so they probably came from the young boar or the sow. I also kept the 10 little pounder whole, just dressed it out like a squirrel, will probably smoke it also. Dog caught hogs taste twice as good. Ha

Yep stand hunting hogs is a long slow process. Much prefer the action with dogs. Even when the dogs aren't bayed you at least dont have to sit dead still and quiet. Drink a beer and BS with your buddies. Let the dogs do the work. Ha.

That looks like a hell of a time in the mud!! Couldn't get much better than that. Nice pics!! Also looks like someone lost a really nice buck! Yeah Wyatt found that head. The guys we were hunting with think they knew who lost it. They were going to take it to him. Shame he didn't get the meat but maybe he can at least get a mount of some kind out of it. For our part of the country he was a nice one for sure.
