Upon inspection of yesterday's gobbler I found his crop to be full of corn. Am I correct in believing that the crop contents have been recently consumed? If that's the case then it would appear someone is feeding or baiting with corn. I don't know much about farming but it seems a bit early for corn to be on the stalk. Anybody else find this with your bird? Thanks

Maybe it's freshly planted?

If there's much corn in one right now someone is feeding them.

I have heard that turkeys will take planted corn out of a field that is freshly planted. If no one in your area has just planted, then yes someone is feeding them.

Right on. I guess they had started planting at end of last week but the rainfall had kept them from finishing the large field I hunt around.

Do you have a picture? It's not hard to tell the difference.

I don't feed deer this time of year, but know other people that do. They might be getting it from a pile, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything shady is going on.

Feeding corn this time of year is a good way to make turkeys sick.

Feeding corn this time of year is a good way to make turkeys sick. I'd like to know more about why?

Do you have a picture? It's not hard to tell the difference. Sorry no pic. Truth be told I put the bead right at the base of his neck and the shot kinda did a number on his crop. When I went to remove the crop during field dressing it was not intact. Just pieces of crop and many kernels of corn.

Did it look like regular yellow corn?

There is a field near where I hunt that still has standing corn from last year they leave it for the wildlife.

Did it look like regular yellow corn? It did. Most likely that would have been eaten within a day or so?

My field still has a lot of corn still in it. We has a wind storm that blew it over and the combine was unable to pick it up.

I shot one that had lots of sunflower seeds in its crop. About a 200 yds from a subdivision, no doubt had been feeding at someone's bird feeder.

Feeding corn this time of year is a good way to make turkeys sick. I'd like to know more about why? Yeah..... this does sound interesting! Sounds like the same theory that some claim feeding corn is bad for deer in the winter.

I'd like to know more about why? Yeah..... this does sound interesting! Sounds like the same theory that some claim feeding corn is bad for deer in the winter. Moldy corn makes turkeys sick may prove fatal to some. I would think spring weather would cause corn to mold rather quickly.
