You will be very surprised how many people will be wanting to buy butcher hogs from you. On a setup like you have, I would not be surprised if you could raise and sell around 50 a year. All "big time" producers raise hogs that are so lean you don't have enough sausage grease to make gravy. In my opinion, you cannot beat home grown pork without steroids and fed mostly ground corn and swine base. Trust me, you will have a market. Looks great!

I have started shopping insurance every year or so. None of them care if you and your kin had the same company. I was shocked how much we saved in auto only, then we saved even more switching home insurance. Quotes are easy. Who do you recommend?

I have been using American Family insurance for nearly 20 years. While I have not really had any problems, I think their rates are getting a little out of hand. Who do you recommend?

Does anyone have one? I'm thinking it would be nice to have both hands free to push my cart with my climber and other stuff on "deep" hunts.

That didn’t help either. I still remember driving through there the year EHD and seeing deer standing in water from the car. The stinch of death was almost unbearable. That year i bow hunted in there with the late season when anyone can go and saw zero deer and saw zero tracks. Dona the property manager comes over to school where i am at or use to and told me the top priority is birds I hunted it a few times in the early 2000's. I never killed a deer on the refuge, but I had never seen so much sign. I drove down and scouted on Thanksgiving weekend (weekend before the draw hunts started) and the numbers of deer were simply amazing. I hate hearing that it is no longer what it used to be.

I will use binoculars on a track like that, to look ahead if I have a line to see if I can pick out the deer if it's bedded. Can you call a tracking dog for tomorrow?? Im not sure if they will allow a tracking dog in the state park but it’s worth a shot I'm betting if you don't get rain/snow you will find her pretty soon tomorrow morning without a dog. Cudos to you for putting in the effort to make a recovery.

Zero bullets or arrows shot for me so far. I have been on vacation the entire gun season and have seen probably the least amount of deer movement in my 35 seasons. That being said, I have seen the last 16 sunrises and sunsets and have thoroughly enjoyed the time away from the real world. Don't let "lack of success" bother you much. I find the older I get, the less it becomes about the kill. Stay after them, get the muzzleloader ready.

I don't lower my standards, but, unlike when people say "don't shoot a buck on the last day that you wouldn't shoot on the first day". My motto is "don't pass up a buck on the first day that you WOULD shoot on the last day". Either way, I take it in stride, this is season # 35 for me and deer hunting is my escape. I haven't pulled the trigger or drawn my bow at anything. I have been on vacation the entire gun season and a break from the real world is a trophy to me!
