I bought my first couple trail cameras this year. Lots of fun checking them. Got a bobcat on one. I've been out of state a few weeks for work and am itching to check them when I get back. Put a bit of corn out before I left.

Making a loop on HNF. Had to wade a swollen creek twice by taking off socks and boots. That water was cold! Haven't heard a gobble, but called in another hunter.

I've had 2 lone hens meander through. Heard one distant shot. Just when I think the rain is over, another band of showers moves in.

Sitting in a pole barn with decoys in field in front of me. Rain just started, but I heard one gobbling on roost a few hundred yards away. I can't hunt next week so figured I'd give it a shot this morning.

I've got a hen feeding right in front of me. I was worried the sound of rain hitting the blind would spook a turkey, but she has paid it no attention.

I'm in middle of long loop on HNF. No gobbles yet. Some distant shots. I had one tom come strutting to my calling, I think. He was about 100 yards out through some real open woods, but he knew something was wrong and drifted away.

I've got 5 anterless in the freezer. 4 I killed and a 5th given to me. Passed on many small bucks. May go this weekend, but really more interested in rabbit hunting. If I can get my oldest her 1st one during the late anterless season, that would make my year.

Back in my climber this morning. May be last deer hunt unless I convince my oldest to hunt anterless late season. Itching to do some small game hunting. Forgot my binoculars though. It drives me nuts when I forget my binoculars. Finally trained myself that when I take them off to put them back into my backpack. Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks? I need to do the same. Or just buy another pair strictly for hunting and not the one do-everything pair I have now. Saw 2 does and a third unknown deer this morning.

I took the morning off to catch up on sleep. Sitting in the climber now watching an oak covered ridge close to a suspected bedding area.

Sat for a couple hours in the wind without any deer seen. Got cold, so made a long loop through the property learning more about it for next year. Bumped a doe was all I saw.

I can't hunt this weekend because of my kid's swim meet. Weather forecast looks good, much colder for next weekend.

Small 8 pointer just came in from behind me, hung around until he likely smelled me then jogged off. Hope he makes it through remaining seasons.

I'm set up in my climber near where I got two does last week. Good rubs in area. Got a few hours to hunt before calling it quits for gun season.

Hard rain just stopped and a second doe just had to investigate the downed, first one. Broadside shot. She ran down the hill towards me. Blood was absolutely gushing out. Out of anterless tags for my county. Now if I could just see a good buck.
