Any game animal, but as stated above, have to stay within the bag limits.

Hunted Hovey Lake this morning. At 7 45 am a young nine point showed up at 15 yards before I saw him. He got to about 75 yards and I hit him with 3 hard grunts. Did a 180 and jogged right to me and walked by at 8 yards. Just to small. Was hoping a doe would stop by but nothing after that. Great morning.

From 18 43 to 18 54 two bucks work over a scrape in the background. First the young on hit it then the big one goes back to reclaim it. Very cool to watch.

Jon, I hunt a property with zero food sources! Sometimes I go weeks without seeing a deer but that doesn't mean they aren't there. Fortunately I'm seeing plenty of deer this year! I move spots every 2 days or so depending on what I see! Also I saw a 6 pointer chasing a doe on Sunday morning. The doe kicked him with her back legs and ran from him. Big boys will get moving in the next week or so, so hang in there! Hunting is all luck Jon!

I'd give it another long sit. Bucks will be checking that out if she has been peeing in it! Sounds like a good spot! Goodluck!

Timex was right about giving proper effort to recover but I think it was given in this situation. And the deer may not be killed so its not a garantee that the dog would find the it.

IMO searching till midnight and 3 hours the next day after running out of blood is a good effort. Not everyone wants to pay to have a dog come that may or may not find the wounded animal. Bad shots happen but I feel like a good search was put on to find the deer in this situation.

Could not agree more with you greghopper. First come, first serve daily. I have several spots for this exact reason.

Everyone I've come across so far at Hovey Lake has been genuine and helpful. There are probably a few guys that would like to claim spots as private but if you've scouted and found a spot, then its up for grabs. Goodluck.

Was told by a guy last night at Hovey Lake that its illegal to have lock on stands or ladder stands on public property over night. Is there truth to this?

I hunt morgan county. Somewhere I saw where you can take up to 4 or 5 does. What does this mean? Bonus tags?

Bought the bundle this year thinking I know how it worked. After talking with a friend I quickly found out that one of us was confused on how it worked. Can someone help explain what tags and deer limits are included with the bundle. Thanks.

I'm no pro but what works for me is too use some aggitator calls such as a crow call to try to get some gobbles. If you can hear a gobbler, get as close as possible and see if he will bite on some hen calls. If you can't hear one, set up on a field where he might be checking for hens before roosting.

If the bird flew away, then give it a couple days. If it walked/ran off he could be back in the next couple hours or the next day.

This morning my dad and I had at least five gobblers around us gobbling from first light for about an hour. None would answer our calls or come any closer. Anyone have tips that could make tomorrow morning different for us? Thanks.

Metamora, I was waiting for someone to say it. I agree with you, it probably takes more skill to sneak up within range of a gobbler. Maybe stalking hunters think it is taking the skill out of the hunt by sitting and waiting. Any way someone can bag a turkey is good. Hunt the way you want. But danger is certainly in stalking with a decoy in front of you.
