I moved to my back up spot. Nobody parked anywhere to be seen, so I went for it. Been seeing birds about every time in this far field.
Running lean on time. Either finish out as long as possible, take advantage of the nice weather and forego my nap, or risk tomorrow since the weather is supposed to turn crappy. I'll give it an hour and assess then.

Wonderful public land hunting. Had 2 guys walk thru the field I'm in already. One guy in a bright white cowboy hat got about 25yds away before he seen my blind. ๐

My buddy was finally able to connect on a gobbler yesterday. The majority of the day was birdless but, finally around 3pm we were hearing lots of gobbling and we had several encounters. When we were giving up and heading out, he spotted a red head in a tall wheat field. Then another one. These two toms were bedded in the field. Just popping their heads up occasionally. They were in the middle of the field and a good 150 yards from us. He decided he wanted to try and stalk them, which he did successfully. He got within 20 yards, stood up and the toms got up and bolted. Only one made it to safety. Fun to watch! That's cool. Congrats to him!!! Gotta be super stealthy for dang sure.

Zero gobbles here this morning. Maybe they froze? Its 30deg here in the NW. They were gobbling like nobody's business till just recently. Now mums the word.

But at least I have a nice big yeti full of coffee. I should have brought my thermos to the blind!

Must have flew down going away as the gobbling got softer. But have more gobbling from opposite direction now. Much more vocal today on the ground, or at least I can hear them without the wind. No shots so far.

I'm going to same area I was yesterday. But, gonna move over by a mowed lane the birds went to/thru. Taking a small pop up blind to try and stay warmer. Let's get it done today!
Good luck to Wesb81219 trying to get in via the no show drawing. Saw him at the check in.

Holy moly. Had to scrape the windows and doing a little preheat before hitting the road. A balmy 28deg, but no wind right now. Showing the weather to do a big flip starting tomorrow. Temps rising, rain/storms, and lots of wind. ๐ Come on now.

Sucks running on only couple hours of sleep. Never fails the workload is always rough when you are most vulnerable. I'm pretty antsy and fidgety to get back out in the morning. ๐ช๐ช๐ช

Saying 30deg in morning. Feels more like deer hunting weather than turkeys!

I gotta work tonight, so not gonna stay much longer. Need a nap to recharge a little. Only a couple shots heard so far.
My fingers are numb from this wind. Saying even colder tomorrow morning. Will adjust for that.

They will be out mid afternoon strutting their backsides At my place most of the pictures on my trail camera are 3PM +โฆ. Same, all our scouting/sightings are afternoons. So, I'm definately happy to see the morning action today.

A strutter and hen out in the field. They did not come from way of all the gobbling. Had to come out of the swamp.

Birds are definitely playing the wind. Lots of gobbling now, just west of me, but all south of the wind break I'm in.
LOTS of gobbling now. Come on.

Just had another gobbler about 125yd fast tracking it across a grass field. Not liking the wind I guess. I got the wingbone call today, and he didnt react, maybe couldnt hear it.

Big gobbler popped out of the swamp grass and fast tracked right past me about 25yds. I was set up for a left side shot, but he was right. By the time I got lined up he was about 70+ and moving.
