Since its a rain out today Im getting all my hunting stuff ready for Saturday.
I dry swabbed my Savage ML I barrel and dry fired a primer, then swabbed again and loaded it. Its dialed in for 200 yards but most of my shots are 80 yards or less. Filled all the quick loaders and everything seems ready.
I got my chem warmers out, brought out the heavy pac boots and heavy wool socks.
Ive been seeing a yote during bow season but he's always out of bow range. If I see him now, his butt is mine.
What do you all do to get ready for this weekend gun season opener? h.h.

I dug out the cold weather hunting clothes and spent one evening doing laundry. I've been spending the better part of the last 3 weeks getting friends guns dialed in, both for Indiana and Wi. gun season. I was hoping the Pac-Nor would have my barrel here in time, but just yesterday Penny said it would ship yesterday or today.
So, I've been getting the ML-I dialed in. I still have about 2 hrs. of work to do on it Friday. I've been checking trail cams, put up a ladder stand, and cleared a couple areas for ground blinds.
I'm not seeing the deer that I did last year, I just hope that the depredation tags that the neighbor was issued didn't wipe out all the big ones that were around, last year after season I had a video of 10 bucks together.
After this weekend, I have to pack for a 5 day trip to Wi. for their opener. We hunt way up north, almost in the U.P.

First, I spend 24 hours in a sweat lodge meditating on how unfair capatilism is. Then I go through a few scarification rituals and organize my gear.
Actually, gun season usually catches me with my pants down. I'm usually running around looking for insulated underwear or a box of slugs or something.

Same here on the cold weather clothes...don't think I'll need them. I think the long-johns with some heavy socks and 3 layers up top will do me just fine. High here looks like it will be 56 with a low of 36. I can stand a few minutes of chill til the sun comes up. Wish I was going to get out the cold weather stuff though...I'd much rather hunt in the cold than warm weather anytime!

I started out by shooting my bow just about everyday besides today it was way to windy lol Got all the hunting gear out some winter stuff just in case then packed it all up in the hunting bags. then got my climber out made sure it was all working right still its an old one lol practiced putting on the full safety harness seems like i can never get them things on right in the dark lol then i called my grandpa to borrow his big tent, last year the tent we used was home made and it took us about 3 hours to set it up so we was setting our tree stands up in the dark on friday last year lol and now im just waiting on friday to head out to lake monroe and hopefully get something this year!

Got the truck loaded down. 3 coolers, my huge luggage duffel, and climber in the bed. Gun case with my 870. Encore in the holster, and back pack behind the seat. Got three 1/2 gallons of Muscadine Cider in one of the coolers as gifts for my friends up there. Taking a friend with me this year. Be alot different for him than that leased pine plantation club in GA. He will freak! hehehehe Leaving out late late tonight or early morning. Be hanging stands tomorrow. Stay about a week. I'm pretty excited. Oh Yeah! Best of luck to all of you!!!! Check in when I get back.

Since we are still under the OBR trial I will spend Indiana Opening Weekend in Illinois bow hunting.
Just pack my jammies and head on up to Timex's deer camp in Knox county . While he and some others are chasing the Hoosier deer with guns I'll be just across the Wabash on his place in Illinois with the TenPoint crossbow.
I will be cooking some ribs in the morning to take up there..
All the archery stuff has been in the truck for over a month now..

Gun is ready to go just need to weigh some powder out. Got my cloths washed and bagged up, getting a drag rag ready today along with going to get a more stable monopod. Charged my camera this week and set it up along with my camera arm.
Still gotta find that orange hat. Seems like that is the one thing I usually forget after not needing it for a month and a half.

Took the covers off the windows on my shed, rolled out a rug and put my swivel bar stool in place then I put some grease on the doors so they don't rub making my entry and exit quieter. The 44 is sighted in and my clothes are layed out. The only thing I need to do is shut off the motion sensor lights on the house before I walk out in the morning. No the shed is not in my backyard it is about 100yards away on the corner of a woods and a wetland. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.
