I’d buy ten days off unfortunately I’m self employed so unless I work I don’t get paid And here I always thought that the self-employed were the ones busting butt for 9 months and taking the entire season off each year. Lol! I will admit that I have complete control of my schedule....BUT...there is lots going on this time of year besides deer hunting too.

In case anybody didn't know, going back to work after 10 days off REALLY SUCKS! What is this "work" that you speak of?!?

Same exact thing for me. My laziness has saved a TON of deer in the last 10-15 years. I'm so lazy that I quit shaving two years ago and went from a 1/4" goatee to a foot long beard that probably has more gray than anything else. Lol! I averaged 4 deer a year for 20 years, and have only killed 3 deer in the last 5 years. Lol! I guess that's the benefit of a lifetime license -- no pressure. I can hunt a half dozen days a year guilt free. I'm thinking perhaps a new bow and some new ground next year might snap me out of it and reignite my hunting passion. Zero deer seen tonight... You should never shave again....ever....

Idk what to say fellas. It took hundreds of sits to get here. From 12 to 90 degrees , I’ve frozen and roasted in the sun , rain, and snow. Most of my hunts were spent messing little stuff up that caused me to see little to no deer. Today I was blessed while sitting in a lawn chair, in a sleeping bag, smoking a cigarette . While that probably sounds like a clown setup to most, it was where I needed to be and I knew it. While recovering my previous deer yesterday morning , I found some monster tracks on the creek bank near where I shot the other one. Those tracks fit this deer, and I shot him on that bank as well. Full story tomorrow. Time to shower and eat dinner finally ! God is good. Great story and that is a great buck too!

As you can see, we ended up a touch low. She is also a he that’s lost his antlers. Glad you found "shim" partner! Nice work!

Locked in for a late morning to early afternoon sit. We see if this wind in my face lets a deer get within range.

I got settled in about 6:00 this morning and by 6:25 this buck was standing underneath my stand. I couldn’t believe the buck I was trying to harvest was standing right there…30 minutes before I was legally allowed to shoot!! I watched him walk off and cross the creek expecting him to get shot on the other side. At 7:25 I heard a shot over there and my heart sank. Then two more quick shots rang out and I was cheering the deer on to just keep running..just hoping they missed!! 😆 So a little before 8:00 I heard some crashing behind me…a doe was being chased by a small forkhorn. A few minutes later a spike is out in the field staring off towards where the two deer just came from. He starts to run towards whatever he’s looking at, but I can’t see anything. Next thing I know here he comes flying back by and I hear crunching leaves coming!! I look back and here the big one comes!! He steps behind a tree which allows me to get my gun up and get the scope turned down. I gave him the ol’ mahhhh to stop him at 30 yds and by then the bullet was on it’s way!! It was time consuming getting him out, but it’s worth it!! Here he is…main frame 8 with double brows and some kickers!! 13 points…could maybe be a 14, but I’ll say 13. Incredible story, picture and deer! 👏

Guns and all my gear was packed in snow and ice. Home now drying my stuff out and I will be back in the evening to still hunt that big buck I keep seeing. I saw him and his lady again for the 3rd time this week. She was in my crosshairs but I spared her for now.

Saturday, Ive decided to start with... If its dry... 270 Encore rifle blued. If its wet, 7-08 Encore rifle stainless. Various others will be rotated thru the hunts. I once dropped a buck with a 7-08 Encore...pistol! Love that round even though I no longer have the gun.

For my long gun, it will be a game day decision between the .338 Win Mag, the .450 bm and a .308. I will take a legal hunting handgun too, but I have no idea what I am in the mood for yet.

That’s a long time in 70 degree heat. I would Finish him off asap. I think he is in MN or somewhere further north than IN.

This weekend looks like the weather and conditions will be excellent! Exciting stuff and we should all get some solid opportunities. What are your weapons of choice for this weekend?
