What gun laws are in place that are not being enforced as you stated? Personally I can’t think of any…… He said laws not gun laws Ok….I took it to mean gun laws! You are correct he said laws…….As I stated I believe gun laws in place now are being followed. It’s amazing reading this thread that some don’t know what are current gun laws are now…..CNN has brainwashed some obviously!

Another tragedy indeed. What is really disturbing is the fact that I was asking myself where the latest mass-murder was going to be as I opened up the computer to read the news.
I'm not opposed to "universal" background checks. But, I don't think that will prevent one single incident. If an individual is sick and disturbed enough to commit murder with a gun, they are also capable of doing it with a knife, explosive, vehicle, etc. That assumes that said individual would be denied a purchase as the result of a check. I'm guessing that most of the mentally disturbed aren't on record and those that would be denied due to criminal history aren't attempting to obtain weapons legally.
It's somewhat amusing that the liberal elite politicians continue to blame every tragedy on Republicans. Didn't the Dems control the Presidency, Senate, and House for two years?

My granddaughter lives in Allen Texas, works at the church school where they will hold a memorial service today. She told us the Allen is a very safe place to live. If It can happen there it can happen anywhere.
Only law abiding citizens will obey the present or future laws. Making it almost impossible to buy a gun or banning guns is not the answer. The unlawful wil still get their guns on the black market as they do now.
It is my personal opinion that the respect and sanctity of life went in a downward spiral when our government determined and OKed the “right” to kill the unborn.
These mass shootings are the crazies copy cat killings.

Permitless carry is a stupid idea. Indiana had a good system before. Now there is virtually no way to stop a nut job or felon from carrying a weapon. I agree something needs to change. I just don't know what. Strict enforcement of current laws would be a start. Background checks for ALL purchases also. Today, a guy can get out of prison or a psychiatric hospital on Monday, walk into a store and buy a shotgun and shells on Tuesday, and shoot up a restaurant on Wednesday. It's true that anti-gunners want to take all guns, but some pro-2A people think anyone should be allowed to carry anything, anytime, anywhere. My fear is that if us pro-2A people don't go along with some modest reasonable changes, we will eventually get something shoved down our throats we REALLY won't like. Think Australia... News flash for ya….criminals don’t follow the laws!!! Regardless how much gun laws make people feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!

Number one, what do we expect in an increasingly Godless society, where there is no objective right and wrong? I want to kill. If I die, so what? This is all there is ( in that mindset) so why not?
Number two, MAGA: Make Asylums Great Again. It usually comes out that these folks are nuts, and demonstrably so, and should be institutionalized. As a society, we have gotten to where we are afraid to label any behavior as aberrant. Someone talks about or acts out violence, or behaves irrationally, we give them a pill and turn them loose. Then when something happens, we ask "Why?" BRING BACK THE NUTHOUSE!
Number 3, have you noticed that when we go a little while without something like this, after the first one there follows immediately a bunch more. The Constant news coverage of the event, and the candlelight vigils, and the and all the drama on TV and the news generally, makes these shootings appealing to certain people. ( see number 2 ). Coverage feeds these things.
Enforce existing laws. Make mental illness a disease again instead of fashion, and take concrete steps to limit CRAZY PEOPLE having access to firearms.
Taking them from normal people will do nothing,

This might not be popular response but here is my take. NEVER GIVE A INCH ON GUN CONTROL. A INCH WILL BE A MILE. 1. Criminals will always have guns. We don't need more gun laws. 2. Treatment for the mental nut jobs. Do not just turn a blind eye on them. Lock them up. 3. If something like this happens. Do not give them all the publicity they so seek. Read number 2 again. 4. Look into why. We had a pro2a president and these things DID NOT happen on a weekly basis. We have a anti2a president and cabinet and here we go again. Makes you think doesn't it. What better way to help the cause. 5. Look into why we have let this Nation totally go down the drain. Heck we have leaders that don't know which bathroom to use. Or if they should wear pants or a dress. And these are the people that is influencing our future. Sad isn't it. 6. Pray. Set down and Pray that we can once again have a Godly Nation with morals. 7. Always defend the 2a. It is the only thing that stops them from completely having control of us all. Our forefathers put it in writing for a reason.

When someone recognizes one of these nut jobs it needs to be addressed...but no, we dont want to hurt someone's feelings, we have to be politically correct. When someone does ANY killing, they should publicly be executed, and not so humanly either. I never did, or tried any drugs growing up, I was scared my father would find out. I think that's where this is all starting, how parents raise (or dont raise) their kids today! I thought my father was a little rough on us kids growing up, by God Im glad he was!

It's an increasingly Godless world where right is wrong and wrong is right.
The far left just expects us to embrace the mental illness that's being spewed out constantly.

So it's easier to put on more gun regulations and keep guns out of criminals hands, than making parents be parents and raise children that have respect and common sense. Neither is possible..we are just plain screwed. America will never get better..only worse. Ive lived a good life and Im sorry to be here to witness what this country has become..even more sorry for my son and his children. (course they will not no any different).

As a public school educator my wife will attest to the fact that proper parenting is rare. My father was stern and expected common sense decision making above all else. As a dumb teenager I always said that I wasn't afraid of the law, but terrified of facing dad. Just last night we were at a cookout in the neighborhood. The host commented that he saw our daughters mowing the yard Friday evening. He stated the all he gets is laughed at when he asks his sons to help mow. I immediately replied barked that I don't ask, I tell. In all honesty, I usually don't have to ask. The girls will ask me if I need help mowing. Sometimes I enjoy doing it all myself, and other times I'm tired or in a hurry.

Mandatory sentences would likely not deter most of these mass shooters who go on a suicide mission. Most don't plan to leave the scene alive.
We have a gun access AND a mental health problem.

Lots of good post in this thread. As far as keeping guns out of the hands of criminals with gun laws goes, I am pretty sure methamphetamine and cocaine are completely illegal, yet they are both easily accessible to people who want either one. So, CLEARLY,more gun laws will do nothing except penalize law abiding citizens.

We had mandatory sentences and the jails got full. Media cried about overcrowding, then disproportionate black to white incarceration. Anytime building a new jail was mentioned people cried not in my neighborhood and raising taxes to pay for it didn't go over to good.

My SS card says not to be used for identification purposes. With all the identity theft, and the trouble that a person can have if their SS number is out in public, AND the issues that have happened lately with firearm owners information being published in papers, there is no way that I would use my SS number for ID on a 4473. Heck, many places that ask me for one get one, but it sure isn't mine.

I stand corrected...but online and private sales do not require checks. I don't know the answer - anybody else? . Move to Canada. No, I'm not being sarcastic. If you don't like the laws here, work politically to change them, or seek another venue.
