...definitely a good topic for debate...Now the task at hand, I'm hitting up the late hunt. Going to put the cameras and a climber in tomorrow...was going today, but got home late. Anyone else hunting next week?

My friend and I will be there for the late hunt. Did the late hunt in 2020 and shot a doe. Only after a buck this year, freezers getting full as it is

I went waaaay back in, good sign. Think I'm far enough back to keep most people away....bad news, the drag after the hunt, one let alone three will be a doozy.
...there are food banks that will accept the meat, I'll see if I can find a butcher who does the processing for free.

3 Shots since shooting light, two were the same guy. I'm pretty far back in, came in very early probably has 3 people set up within 100 yds of me. I'm the farthest north, my wind is blowing right down the creek bed they are all hunting...almost feel bad. They will not see a deer today. Had one buck, looked like a 6ish youngin walk a ridge about 75 yds away at 8. That's it so far. First public hunting experience, so far not a fan.

But I still sign up every year and go when picked. It's just something different, extended season, extra deer possibly, somewhere you couldnt go otherwise. You should expect other hunters to bother you, lol. Same as public land hunting. Its gonna happen, no matter where you try and hide. It's not for the impatient, or faint of heart, that's for sure. Good luck.

Oh, I'm hanging in there believe me. I'm just so careful on my private land this is a foreign concept to me. I just had a yearling doe come through at noon, probably could have shot her, but not taking any risky opportunities back in here so far. Might get down at three and move the climber over the ridge, we will see. Good luck to you too. Find a big one.

I'm just following along with you guys and rooting for you until time to split for work.

So.....hear me out. Maybe a tiny bit of sporadic rut action to be expected. But when guys walk in all the way up to shooting, walk around in circles, through the middle of a property then settle in on the edge....they run all the deer off. I could hear them spooking, nestled in my stand an hour b4 legal light. Then you don't see any deer all day, there has to be a better way. Maybe I just take my hunting too seriously, but I have success and on a very small property. Two does, two does out of all of the hunters in the park today. I saw two deer....one I could have probably put a shot on and perhaps the only one that saw a buck. They both came from a corner of the property deemed a safety zone. Maybe you can get away with the chaos during rut, but it sure doesn't seem like an efficient way of herd reduction. I don't know how you vet hunters, but fewer more skilled/serious hunters could probably do a better job. ...thoughts?

If the deer are there, nobody can get them.

Maybe you can get away with the chaos during rut, but it sure doesn't seem like an efficient way of herd reduction. To be fair, some don't even treat these opportunities as reduction hunts - shoot any deer offering a safe shot take. Many of the parks are not as populated as they used to be, but that is precisely why the hunts keep happening - those places can QUICKLY get over populated and the parks desperately don't want that.
