Try to keep everything locked up as much as possible, I know that's not easy, best of luck. We live in a remote area, but have a pit bull and another med. size dog that stay in house. (I pity the fool that enters home unwelcomed). LOL Have security cameras as well. Outside have cameras and another dog, a (female chow), she doesn't play well with strangers either. Have never had any problems but are prepared if we do. I was told that if there was a tresspasser and the sheriff or CO was called they'd run his name for wants/warrants. The sheriff said to get that info from them and file a restraining order on him. That way if he was trespassing again they could charge him for violating the restraining order. If no restraining order, and he was on the property again, they couldn't do anything if they asked him to leave and he complied.

Class A misdominor for 1st offense, repeated offenders can be charged with felony. (I don't expect any issues with this particilar guy.) Majority of times landowners do not want to press charges due to time and money involved to follow it through court process. Property needs to be posted as well.

When you say "posted" is the No Trespassing sign at the main entrance to the property enough or is it required every "X" feet apart on the property lines?

I have several signs at point of entries and at boundary corners.

In Minnesota we must post are land once a year and the sing must have land owners signature. Signs must be at 1000ft intervals, 500ft in wooded areas, property corners, and any improved entrance's to property. Hunters still have the rite to retrieve down game, but must leave if asked to do so by land owner.

From what I've been told property does not have to be posted to charge someone with trespassing. It is the individuals responsibility to know where they are and who's property they are on.

I don't recall if these gents are your home neighbors, hunting neighbors or both. But, I think it's pretty cool to see you celebrating their success rather than seething with envy. Good sportsmanship! Definitely some nice bucks! Congratulations to both.

They bought 225 acres that joins my farm to west, we have a creek drainage separating properties. (They have each moved here and built new homes about 6 year's ago.) Could not ask for better neighbor's in general and as a bonus they are into deer hunting , and growing big mature deer just as much as me.
