Glad it worked out for you in the end. It can be frustrating when stuff like that happens. Looks like some helpful implements there to add to your arsenal.

That Bush Hog is very much like mine. Mine is 20 years old and this year was the first time I ever had any problems with it. I broke that right side front support and I can tell you for sure that Rural King in Laporte has those supports. Good deal on both.

I do welding and fabricating, and mechanic full time, so no problem on most repairs. This one has some rot on the top and one side. I will skin it with some new metal. I dont see I'll need it too much, so not worried about it not being in new condition. I'll hire out a few jobs here and there to refill the piggybank.

I drove an hour this morning to Vandalia, MI. Guy tells me, "oh I sold it yesterday. I told you I would update the post". I said "no, you told me I was the first bite, and then asked if I was serious, because 4 other guys already wanted it behind me". He said oops, misunderstanding. π‘π‘π‘ So, I knew there was a couple more in the area. I picked the next one I wanted, and messaged the guy. He responded, and 20min later I was in Stevensville, MI loading up the new mower. 72" Caroni finish mower. Already got her on the tractor and mowed the yard. It sure didnt take long! Then, my next stop was Crete, IL. I picked up this 6ft Land Pride brush hog. It needs a little TLC, but got it for $300, so zero complaints. The gear box, pto, blades, etc are all in great shape. Been thinking of a finish mower like that. I have a belly mower but would rather have one that I can take on or off easier....but can't justify the cost.

I was working towards the belly mower, but nobody wants to come off all the brackets. On my tractor, it looks like a huge job. I have heard about the job it is to hook and unhook the belly type. Plus you lose ground clearance, and I would have to remove my fancy step, so nahhh. The 3pt was my last option. So far, seems like it will work.

I ran the tractor over to my moms place so I could test out the mower there. Her yard is one acre, but half of it has obstacles to mow around. Normally takes me approx one hour with her garden tractor. Only took 20min this time with my new set up. It dont take long with a six foot swipe at a time. Oh man am I ever getting spoiled! π€£πππ

I changed out the axles on my trailer last week. They were the old mobile home axles, with the open center rims. One got bent, and was scrubbing off a tire a year, and lack of available tires like the old days, so it was time to go. A buddy had an unused pair of 6 lug, 4" drop Dexter's, so on the went. I put on all new hardware, and rewired the brakes, greased the bearings, cleaned up the magnets and drums. I shortened my ramps by 22", which made them so much more convenient. I've had my tractor, and now a load of wood on board, and pulling like a dream. The projects never end!

Picture doesnt do it justice. Once I got the trailer unloaded, it's hard to believe how much wood there actually is! Thanks to esshup for offering up this pile of seasoned logs and loading them up. Firewood is not so bad when you got the right equipment to lessen the burden on the back and hands.

Firewood is not so bad when you got the right equipment to lessen the burden on the back and hands. Amen to that! I'm lucky enough to have a tractor with a bucket and forks and virtually an endless supply of firewood on my farm and a couple neighbors within 2 miles of home. I seriously doubt that I would be cutting what I do without the equipment that I have.

You're welcome. Glad to see that it cam be used. I got the rest of the Oak picked up today. Tomorrow is all the branches.
The forks are nice, and have a set but I wouldn't trade them for the grapple bucket. I can grab a tree trunk from the end and pull the whole thing out of the woods.

Knocked out most of it single handedly already. Prior to todays conditioning, there's no way I could've done all this in the heat, plus work, and be in the gym all on the same day. πͺπͺπͺ

Next project... a little fabrication on the brush hog to bring it back into fighting form. It was pitted on top with some rust holes, and the front edge was cracked. Cheaply made, probably old age, and left sitting in the grass full of moisture probably all contributed to its condition. But, the gear box, blades, stump jumper, and pto shaft all in great condition, so I dont think it was used hard. Plus, I got it for $300, so no complaints. Couple before pics... Got some 10ga galvanized plate cut to patch and reinforce the structure. I'll get it welded up tomorrow before work.

Got her all welded up and serviced. Greased, changed the gear box oil, and installed a new shear pin (bolt). Gave it a good test run thru the jungle, and it works great. I got 3 jobs lined up already.

Our parking lot at work has been getting beat up by a lot of traffic, especially our dump truck fleet that parks there. Small pot holes have turned into giant ones. The big one was about 30ft across and 2-3ft deep. Once in a great while they have leftover asphalt, so they dump it in a hole and haphazardly drive over it to spread out. Recently, they dropped a bunch. Work wanted us to shovel it, but it was in big clumps, and starting to hardened more than a shovel could deal with. After a couple minutes, I said screw this, and told them it wasnt working. We have no equipment, no plow, and the forklift has slick tires. They said if you dont shovel, then what? I blurted out they could hire me and my tractor, and after one phone call for approval, I was hired. Kinda surprised me. Lol. It came out really good so far. They said they will get more delivered if my performance was good, and they approved it, so looking forward to some more jobs soon. Really getting the side program going now. Not trying to make a business out of it, just a few bucks or trades here and there to help pay it off and keep the piggybank full.

Thatβs one reason I need to get a trailer for mine. Help folks out and hopefully get paid for some side jobs.
