Good news is... it works! It clamps strong! Odd shaped branch that broke off and laying, so first thing I grabbed. Bad news is, the ram is too big and strong, and I already bent the mounts on top and bottom. My buddy said too big, I said so what? He won that challenge. Lol. The top bracket Inused was off an old snowplow frame. It is 3/8" thick, so figured it was plenty. Probably would have been with the smaller sized ram. Live and learn. All the store bought ones I seen use a 2x8 ram, this one is a 3x12. It's what I had. Rural King has the smaller one in stock. Most grapples have the cylinder on top, only seen a few mounted behind the bucket like I did. It looked better to me. Oh well, time to rebuild to a better mousetrap!

Man that is sweet. Bent brackets are not a big deal...when you are the one to fix them.

Hard to believe just how much pressure you can make with Hydraulics

I’ve got to take my baby in she’s leaking some around the mixer valve and I honestly don’t think it’s a project I want to take on Plus it’s almost 20 years old I believe I’m going to have them go top to bottom replace everything that looks wore. Probably going to be a bigger bill but when you consider all I’ve done was basics it’s really been a good tractor for me .

I'm guessing you will get hit with around $1,500-$2,000.

I'm guessing you will get hit with around $1,500-$2,000. Don’t know what the leaking will cost Never look forward to paying people when normally I do it myself But they told me around 500 to 600 to do all oils filters belts hoses grease and service labor don’t think that’s all bad cost me dang near 200 to buy it when I do it myself but I don’t normally replace belts and hoses they are the Original ones Idk I just figured it’s 20 years old and really never been serviced per say so I figured do it I’ve already had to load it haul it and it should be good for sometime again

Lol Ya I know but just like everything else I own I do all the service but every few I’ll take it in and have them go top to bottom this is the first time in 20 years on the tractor figured I’d get it done even at 2000 it’s still better than the 25 grand it would cost to replace it if I bought the same thing new again I will say it seems to work good for me my mower and toys hardly ever break down

Sits under a car port and light use in winter. They are well made machines. Only a few repairs.

I got her all put back together and reinforced. ZERO flex or give now. I picked up same branch, then a jaw full of others, then brush, then an old trash can, and all I can say is, she's just mean! I do plan to revamp sometime in future, but wanted to get some use and practice with it now. I think I will play around a little more to make sure all is well, then take it off and give her the soft wheel treatment to clean and smooth out before paint. Will add some pics later.

Like anything, treat it right and use it sensibly, and it will last a long time.

He has already had to have a front hub rebuilt due to wheel bearings coming apart and a trans/pump seal replaced where they had to split it in the middle. Luckily still under warranty, but come on. Now he does use it hard, and has 1k hours on it already, but those things were when fairly new. I bet 80% of these smaller home sized tractors never get used/abused to their potential.

Got a Massy 38 hp 4 wheel drive with turf tires on it back filled I’ve been really happy with it and have used it fairly hard but within reason. So far a battery a light that’s it. Now the loader itself has been good but the joystick and mix valve has been a issue this will be the 4 th time that’s been fixed Twice under warranty I’ve honestly never been real happy with the joy stick that part sticks I truly believe that is what is tearing the valve up they have rebuilt it each time but it still happens on occasion probably a bad design they don’t want to own up on because it would cost them a fortune to replace every one of them.

Thanks Greg. We have those on some of the liftagtes that are gravity down at work. I didnt know they had one to control the pressure side. Pretty sure the ones we have say return flow only. I'll check into that.

Unfortunately the wheel bearing issue is fairly common in the Kubota's. Friend of mine dealt with the same issue on his.

I cut some notches today and tested her out some more. Really happy with it. Did a lot of trimming in the yard, and was able to grab everything without getting off the seat. I think I have hit paydirt now. Maybe a few more test runs, then grinding and paint.

And you didn't even have to trim the sides of the bucket!
