Yep no tracking involved plus if they drop dead before they hit the ground, the others with them usually don't get scared away. Makes for a nice follow up shot.

Head/neck/high shoulder. No tracking involved at all.
I have NEVER recovered a Barnes X bullet or TSX bullet, I have had one go front to back of a deer and still exit (.243).

I have a TSX bullet I recovered. It went thru a stack of tires filled with 1" to 3" diameter limbs and was stuck in a tree 12 yards behind it. Will have to take a pic when I get home. Its pretty impressive.

Remington .300 Win Mag. Usually stops them dead in their tracks. That is no where near enough power for deer.

We aim for shoulder shots with the Barnes bullets, yeah we sometimes mess a little meat up but in reality not much at all. Push em hard and aim for bone. Take out their front wheels and they don’t go far.....who needs to track with that kind of performance. I prefer the neck shot. Makes for a really clean gut job. I try for the neck during gun and archery seasons, never had to track one I’ve shot in the neck.

That is no where near enough power for deer. Didn’t run anymore than 30 yds yesterday. I’ve been using it since you could use rifles and that was the only one that ran any kind of distance.

I’m tagged out but my daughter will have her Handi Rifle in 357 Maximum with her, I will be the guide. Every deer hit with that gun has dropped within 30 yds. Great caliber. What projectile are you using? I've had a couple of slow deaths with my .357 MAX with great shot placement. Last year my son shot one with it and the deer laid down within 30 yards of us. I couldn't see it and my son (14 years old then) thought it's head was down. We waited 30 minutes and got down to check it out and it got up and walked straight away. We backed out and found her still alive but unable to move 4 hours later. As I said the shot placement was good. I don't think we have a good performing projectile. Interested in what you are using

Using 158 gr XTP. Earlier used a 150 gr Remington SP and did not get good performance. Tried 180 gr XTP and had trouble with accuracy. 158 performs great.

For you 350 legend guys, was not impressed with the federal soft point. Might expand further in another thread once I get home.
