My grandson and I will sit together. He told me recently that he really wants to shoot the Mossberg Patriot in 308. We had previously dialed her in at 100 yards. Still, I wanted to watch him a little closer at the range. I wanted to see what and where he grouped at 25 yards and to take a closer look at how he handled the recoil. Very happy with the outcome! He cloverleafed the first shots and then said, "Grandpa, I Kentucky windaged that last shot cause I just knew I could hit the bullseye!" So, the Patriot with the Federal Fusion, 165gr! And I'll tote the Kimber Rapide, 10mm, Sig Sauer Elite, 180 gr V-Crown!

The TC Contender rifle in 44 mag and maybe the Desert Eagle 44 mag too,not sure about that though. Either way both will be loaded with 240g XTP hand loads. If I get a burr in my tail,I might even get out the Mossberg 30-06 before the season's over.

Mossberg .308 Vortex diamondback 3-9×40 Winchester 150 grain. Had this piece for several years, have never killed a deer with it. Usually hunt 870 12 gauge but have longer shot opportunities tomorrow.

The two mature bucks that I have shot with mine, just dropped! Where did your shots land? Neck, heart, lungs? Heart and lungs. It wasn't a drop like a high shoulder shot. They tried to take a step but were dead before they hit the ground. If that makes any sense at all.

If that makes any sense at all. Makes perfect sense! I was just curious because the only 2 deer I've had drop in their tracks one was head shot and the other was a neck shot deer was facing me and the bullet exited out of the rear end.

Didn't know fishing was an option! Always an option for me. My buds are all tagged out so not meeting up with anyone. I don't like to gun hunt behind the house, new farm has family that gun hunts and the other spots are longer drive and a lot of work. And this year I have really enjoyed fishing.

The more I shoot the .243 with the Barnes copper bullets, the more I like it. Shot through some pretty thick stuff and the bullet stayed on course.

We aim for shoulder shots with the Barnes bullets, yeah we sometimes mess a little meat up but in reality not much at all. Push em hard and aim for bone. Take out their front wheels and they don’t go far.....who needs to track with that kind of performance.

No doubt about that, I’ve got a friend that likes head shots and that’s the same thing he says. I’ve only tried the neck shot once on a nice buck and it dropped him right there then I wheeled over and shot his girlfriend too. That was on a state park hunt several years ago.
