Wow, thats a lot of bucks but I would assume if they have the limit they have the deer? Is that any weapon or restricted to bow? Ohio is still shut gun/muzzleloader, no HPR, but handgun .357 or larger is allowed. . Ohio used to be a 1 buck only. Times has changed. I had to read it twice to believe. Ohio has change to counties on number of deer and sex of deer not an issue. Either 1 to 4 deer per county. This tells me their main objective is to reduce the number of deer.

Didn't Ohio legalize some sort of PCR? Straight-walled perhaps?

Didn't Ohio legalize some sort of PCR? Straight-walled perhaps? Yes, PCR .357 or larger (Handguns), not sure of barrel length. I'm still shotgun and muzzleloader. Never looked into it.

Where there is habitat, there are ample deer. Not to get too terribly sidetracked...but I hear this a lot. Of course where this is good habitat there are ample deer....if we had so many deer in the state that poor habitats had deer even that would be intensely over populated. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it but it is a common theme I hear a lot...why do some expect to see deer or their defined "ample" amount on less than prime habitat? You should never expect it. Nor should you be shocked when those that provide solid secure habitat see deer. Just something I struggle with understanding at times. How true... I've been hunting for 67 years and I've yet to see a pheasant anywhere in Southern Indiana excite out and take at Glendale.. I've never seen nor heard a grouse in Warrick county . Last bison I saw was when me and Davey...0r it could have been Daniel used to hunt them..

I used to see grouse in Switzerland county (15 years ago). I will ask my hunting group when I see them in the next couple weeks.

I've been seeing a pheasant or two just about every time I've deer hunted lately. Turkey are a relatively new occurrence around here, only started showing up last 3-5 years, now pretty common to see a few.

We hunted pheasant a lot in the 70s,and raised and turned them loose after the State quit doing it,for a few years anyway but haven't seen any since we quit back in the late 70s,except earlier this summer there was a few walking around my neighbors barn in the yard......ended up being someone's pets though .

I heard of that. I believe that's the only case I've heard of thank God. I'm sure she's in a better place. The positive is that hopefully the odds of that happening are in line with winning the powerball or struck by lightning.

Didn't Ohio legalize some sort of PCR? Straight-walled perhaps? Yep, straight walled so 444 and 45-70 are GTG there.

The positive is that hopefully the odds of that happening are in line with winning the powerball or struck by lightning. My concern about the whole ordeal is it sounds like many are overly concerned about the lethal range of HPR's that they may get complacent with their shotguns and muzzleloaders. 1.5 miles is a long way for any projectile to travel, let alone have enough energy at that distance to be lethal. But this accident proves it can happen, even with a "slow" projectile fired from a ML. If everyone uses safe handling and shooting practices this firearms season, there should be no problems regardless of what weapon they are using.

I shot my 308 at 400 yards today. Still putting bullets inside a 3 inch circle. Nobody died

Over here, you can shoot whatever caliber you want up into trees at squirrels -- .50 BMG included. Lol! Obviously most don't, but it is legal nonetheless.
