Greetings Important thing is everyone now has an option. Regards Billy Everyone had a "option" before this.....just saying....doubt your see any NEW hunters join the ranks!! Ok lol Everyone now has the option to use a hpr in one of the over the counter available calibres. That's a better explanation I think. Lol

Without language specifying exact legal cartridges or exact legal bullet diameters I think any centerfire long gun could be seen as legal if a person were willing to get busted and challenge it. Call your 50bmg a 243. Have it engraved on the barrel. Lawmakers never fail to amaze me..... And yes, I'll likely be using one. EXACTLY..... Technically there's only two named cartridges listed, the .30-30 and the 30-06. The rest are calibers. I would think anyone could challenge this law with this interpretation and win...IMO

Without that all important decimal point they aren't calibers...simply numbers that could mean many things.
Eager to see the actual language of the law when done.

As worded its grey at best....without the suffix there are no "calibers" really listed there is there? Of course we think we know what they "meant" but the books are full of laws that the courts are tasked with interpreting. Without specifics the door is open.

I will use my 300 blackout, but not my 300 win mag. I'll probably end up buying another rifle, but not sure what yet. I would really like to harvest a deer with as many different weapons as I can.

That's how it should be -- the hunter choosing the difficulty level of their hunt. Just because a weapon is legal doesn't mean someone is forced to use it.

They are aware of the need for suffixes, as I told more than one senator and representative numerous times in the past week.

I probably won't be using one next year due to the lack of funds. By the time I buy my boy his new .243, scope and all that comes with it I'm going to be broke.

Most likely not. My bow is more potent anyways haha! Is it, or is it simply because of the dates in which each is legal to use? ;-)

I think I saw a 300 Lapua on the shelf last time I was in Whittaker's....be a good one. Yep! The .300 Allen Express that I was looking at had another 200-300 fps on that .300 Lapua with the same weight bullet.

Since both the rifle and 10MM pistol sections have lines allowing the department to modify (for lack of a better term) the bill, the DNR will probably be the one to add the suffixes. I bet there will be one per caliber, and the .300 will become .300 Win Mag.

It looks like I sold my.243 about 3 weeks too soon, dang it!
I've got a .300 Win but truly feel it's over kill and I need to spend more time with it before I would be comfortable taking it to the woods.
I'm thinking there's going to be some good deals on PCRs and maybe even muzzleloaders come November...
In the meantime I'll keep the .44 mag '94 dialed in.

I'll pick up a .44 Handi Rifle for both of the kids if they hit the market cheap enough.
