Rutting activity has started here in Marshall county. I have seen 3 shooters in my last 2 sits. A good buddy had seen two yesterday, & my neighbors killed these 2 & 2 more big ones on Sunday. It's time boys & girls! Trophy Paradise Habitat Consulting "Trophies are built from the ground up" m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=852914431431752

I've driven a lot of miles the last 3 nights. Saw one buck "with a doe", several alone feeding and cruising along and a lot hanging out with other bucks. Four fields the other night had 4 bucks in them together. One field had 2 sparring, one walking away from them and one walking toward them. Another field they were all bedded down together.
One night we saw 47 deer and 30 of them were bucks.

I sure hope it's getting going. Starting my vacation Nov. 4th - 11th. The look ahead on the forecast doesn't look as nice to start next week as I would like but it is an extended forecast so hopefully it will change for the better.

I saw 4 doe and passed on a lone 8 pt last night. debating whether to set up the blind and my other two-man in the rain this evening since I won't be hunting anyways. maybe the rain will help to keep my scent down.

In my opinion this late in the season, rainy and hopefully windy days are the only time to make new sets.

Those deer in photo come from some pretty special property. Lots of nice deer in the area to start with and that landowner has done a tremendous job improving the habitat.

Pre rut yes, chase phase Not seeing any yet in southeastern Indiana. I think by definition that the actual rut starts as soon as a buck losses his velvet and his test level's start to increase. Most guys I hunt with refer to the chasing phase as THE RUT when most bucks are out searching for those first few does that come into estrous. Normally first 10 days November where I hunt. I have a trail cam set up over an active scrape. Activity has increased over last week but all older bucks are using scrape from midnight until 4 a.m.. 20 different bucks have used the scrape located just below a major food source. A few good bucks have been harvested last few days in my area so anytime you can get in a tree next 2 weeks you should hunt IMO.

Those deer in photo come from some pretty special property. Lots of nice deer in the area to start with and that landowner has done a tremendous job improving the habitat. Exactly themDeer could very easy been shot without pre-rut! It's not a deer farm. Those bucks came off of farms that were 300 & 110 acres. You can't keep deer on property 100 % of the time with that small of acreage no matter how good it is. Those guys have put 35 years into managing those farms, & even with that being the case..they don't even start hunting until about oct 25 every year. Their strategy is to stockpile does via massive amounts of food & bedding cover. They pull bucks from miles away during the rut. I know this to be true as a lot of the bucks they kill have been on trail camera or had Their sheds found 2-3 miles away by other people Trophy Paradise Habitat Consulting "Trophies are built from the ground up" m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=852914431431752

Who is saying anything about a deer farm? Dont make things up just to start Dramna!! Deer farms are the only places I'm aware of where it's "easy" to kill a buck like that...at any time of year Trophy Paradise Habitat Consulting "Trophies are built from the ground up" m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=852914431431752

Who said anything about "any time of year"?? Wow..... Relax and read! You did....read your post. You said they could have easily been killed without prerut...which would indicate some other time of year. Hey, It's Big Al! Hopefully he leaves a good one for you. I've seen one small buck out looking. Saw groups of does and yearlings last night, no bucks.
