I was thinking that since ltl holders are really on a trust system by writing our own transport tags that we could just call a check station and check in our deer. We could get a confirmation number instead of the metal band .
Is this a good idea or what ?

i would rather do that. it is alot easier. thats the way ive done it in illinois and kentucky

I vote for tele-check for ALL legal deer hunters. The sooner the better!

Most of the time I check my deer in they dont look at my transportation tag. They throw it in the trash and ask to see my ltl. I think to myself I could do this over the phone. I do think the state should go to a telecheck for all hunters .

I am a state deer check we are not required to go outside and look at or tag your deer that is the hunter resposibility to latch the tag, but I can tell you this I belive next year we will be doing tele check, that is what the state is leaning toward, LTL holders tags are no different then any tag now everyone must write out a tag, but telecheck would save us all a great deal of time.

Spc, I forgot you can get tags off the computer now. I guess with that said this question is null and void. I still say telecheck all the way.

What would this do as far as saving money for the state! I dont quite understand how this would work, can someone explane it and how it would work?

Semisneak----- All deer hunters must write out their own tag now just like a LTL
As far a the state saveing everybody time and money thats simple
#1 They would not have to spend money on metal tags anymore
#2 they would not have to spend money for turkey tags
#3 They would not have to spend money on printing Check in books and evenvolpes that are prepaid that us the check stations send in to them.
#4 They would not have to pay officers to spend their time going around dropping off check station materials and picking it up.
Going to computer telecheck they can store it all in 1 data base, saves lots of money. I am sure their are other hidden costs as well.
The current system that we run now to sell lic is already set up to check deer and turkeys in.

I don't thik it should be strictly telecheck or PC check in.
I think that they should still have check in stations too.
A choice if you will.

thats a great idea for every sportsman to tele-check in your deer, this would save on gas and also on some of the so be sportsman, might start checking in there deer. i know several so called sportsman that don"t even bother to check there deer in, just fill out the make believe tag and just go home! sorta makes me mad, but i realize you can"t control the way some people hunt! turkey scout

I like the idea of telecheck , they've never looked at my deer at the check station anyway , so I could phone or geek the info directly to IDNR without leaving the house . Bring it on !

I visit a missouri web page a lot and those guys hate the new telecheck system they are dealing with for the first time.
One thing a lot of the guys don't like is not being able to go to the check stations and B.S.ing.
