JRB HUNTER , BIRDDOG,
IDNR LAW DOES NOT REQUIRE US TO COME OUTSIDE AND INSPECT YOUR DEER, SO PLEASE TURN ME IN LOL, IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HUNTER TO TAKE THE ANIMAL TO THE CHECK STATION AND PRESENT LIC, AND PROPER TAG, ALONG WITH THE HUNTER THEN PLACEING HIS OWN METAL TAG ON THE ANIMAL AND CLIKCKING THE TAG SO IT IS LOCKED...
If I have time I will go out and look at the animals I enjoy that but it is not my job to harass hunters the other thing is we as buisness owners have customers in the store that come first next to checking in deer and most hunters understand that because some of those people are great customers of ours as well, I do have a huge amount that come to my store only to check in deer and never purchase anything that is the customer service we provide for free. As far a Turkeys go we are required to weigh and measure the spurs on the bird beard is optional, but I check everyone anyhow.

I have never seen an animal checked in at Milltown or Corydon (Either place in Corydon) that has not been inspected by an employee of the store. We've checked in 15-20 in at Corydon this season... hell they even come out to investigate my trapline catch sometimes.
I have checked deer in at 7 different stations this year all across this state and Bowens is the only place that didn't look at the animal, I always thought they were operating illegally by doing so. Guess not?

Called the IDNR about the checking in of a deer and according to them it's not necessary for the store owner to come outside to verify anything about the said kill.......

Actually I belive if you read in the Indian regulation book it states that the hunter is responsible to affix the permante tag to his or her animal.

I'll add another to Ayes.
telecheck in general is something I am in support of. Cheaters will cheat no matter what you do. As a LL holder, I've already established that I have all the legal tags, etc.. I need to hunt.
I may be mistaken, but I thought in the early days the check in was as much to measure and inspect the deer taken from the heard in order to better manage it. Since they've kinda gotten away from doing that with the exception of a few state properties I've checked in at, what is the point?

The above is true..so why aren't they doing it now?If you tele-check a deer in what gives the state the information they "always" needed before, weight, age(checked teeth),points, condition of rack if a buck...........

Aye..
Go to telecheck and PC input and keep the check staions as voluntary.
It is about time that Indiana comes into the modern age.
