I hate to burst your bubble again birddog but the DNR can still check deer yearly by setting up on certain locations without check stations, they can still go to the butre shops and collect their same data.
I vote AYE, but it is already in the works anyhow!!!!!!!

Your so wrong, the shops up my way for instance the one does over 4000 deer a year, another does over 1000, I would think they could get some good data from that.

I agree , most of the guys I know get theirs done at a processor , I just started cutting my own this year . If I were gonna collect data on deer that's where I'd go .

Telecheck is the way to go.....it is going to be in place next year for all of us. Better for everyone. Hopefully it works better then the online license that was clogged up the Friday prior to the shotgun opener. My buddy shot his buck on that Friday and was trying to buy a bonus tag all night and couldn't get on. BONUS!
Lifetime License holders shouldn't get charged in the future to tagged animals like I've heard rumors about. (i've heard that for deer/turkey that lifetime holders are going to be charged)!!!!!!!!!!! I'm livid if that is the case. I was a poor college kid when the license costs orginally went up and the same with the lifetime license so I spurgled over x-mas break before they went up in cost.

should LTL holders be allowed to telecheck ?

I think the original poster (who has a LL) thought we were the only ones filling out a piece of paper. We're not.. It should be the same for EVERYONE.

you are correct Woody everyone that has a deer lic or turkey tag must fill out there own kill tag and place it on the animal just like a lifetime lic holder.

IDNR does take age data at stations other than state properties... last couple of years, they've been at Schwartz's Bait/Tackle in Noblesville (Hamilton Co.) during opening weekend.
Computerized checkin as an added option would be good... don't know how other states do telecheck, but one concern I would have is getting a busy signal or "please hold for the next available operator" during opening weekend... I know the on-line license system this year got rrrrreeeeaaaaallllll sssssssllllllllooooowwww about 24 hours before gun opener... having a local check station per county would be a good option as a backup.... otherwise sound like a good idea...
From the hunting guide:
"Resident landowners, qualified non-resident landowners, lessees, Indiana servicemen on leave who are legally hunting without a license, and youth and lifetime license holders complete a piece of paper stating their name, address, the day and month and sex of the deer immediately upon killing a deer. The tag must be attached to the deer before transporting the carcass or leaving it unattended.
The person who takes the deer must cause the delivery of the deer to an official deer check station within 48 hours of the kill for registration. You must surrender the top portion of your annual deer hunting license. Before leaving the check station, you must affix the permanent seal to the carcass. The permanent seal must remain attached until the carcass is placed in the custody of another person for processing or until the carcass has been processed and packaged. The deer head must remain attached to the carcass until the tag is attached and locked at the deer check station."
