Like I have told several on here if you are looking for the best crossbow for your money look at the Wicked Ridge line by TenPoint.
Best think to do is go to a store that stocks numerous brands (hopefully that you can shoot) and let the crossbow pick you.

I decided to buy a crossbow several years ago simply to try something different. I paid $279 for a Horton TR-175 with a 3 dot scope. I have been happy with it, and taken two deer with it. They are heavy, and difficult to manuver at times, but that's just part of it.
I've taken deer with a vertical bow, slug gun, .44 mag rifle, and a sidelock, and inline muzzleloader. I just don't place limits myself, and I am/was willing to try anything. Heck I'd try spears if it was legal.
Try it, you just might like it!

I am just stating what I consider the truth on some occasions. Take my dad for example. He is 66 years old and has bow hunted for 40 years. He has a bad shoulder and diabetes which caused a hemmorage in his dominate eye. Next year he is talking about hunting with a crossbow which I have absolutely no problem with but its the healthy 35 year old that has never bow hunted that will do it because that can now and the reason they didn't hunt with a compound is because they never took the time to learn how. Following that line of reasoning I can only imagine the utter contempt you must hold for firearm hunters.
