I agree with Woody, lots of changes at once. I hunt with all 3 weapons so I will still have ample time to fill my freezer even with the shorter seasons. I also must say I don't think the harverst #'s will go done any with the shorter seasons. The big damage is always done opening weekend followed by the 2nd weekend and you will still have that with a 9 day season, however I'm not sure it will increase either though.
I most likely will not take part in the extra anterless seasons either. I have no problem taking extra does now with the current structure, I just don't want to pay the $ that DNR is currently charging for anterless tags. I must say of all the changes propoosed, I'm most dissappointed in not having any license fee/structure change as I'm a annual license buyer.

Why would you hunt the October antlerless season when you could just bow hunt and shoot a buck? How many of you guys will be able to hunt from Dec.25 to Jan.1.

Well, after reading through this thread and the other one; I am certainly happy I moved to Ky. The IDNR is certainly trying it's best to "crap-up" the Deer Season for Hoosier Sportsmen.

secure your hunting ground and start saving money for taxidermy, might as well reap the benefits, improvise and adapt, maybe become a better hunter and pick up archery
be careful with the full-on threatening backlash because no one will take that seriously

Mike Tonkovich, Ohio’s deer biologist said it best and this covers what I believe transpired here..

Not too sure about that. As I see it this 2 days in October and the week in December will be antlerless only and open to all legal hunting tools. I think that includes archery eqipment. So, bucks might be off limits those days..

The IDNR is pulling out ALL stops to kill more deer except they wont allow us to use crossbows in the archery season. How does that make any sense at all?

Let's not forget that what is majority on this site is not automatically majority everywhere guy's. I'm sure it's probably 50/50 good ole boy's slug slingers vs. the ones who supported it. I can tell you that two other forums I visit, one much larger than this one support these changes. The biggest complaint on any other forum I have seen is the gun in Oct. season where I'm sure some good "Archery bucks" will be taken but have a slug hole in them. I was really shocked to see so many this upset after hearing how many of you are supposed "meat hunters" who don't care about racks or bucks so the rut shouldn't matter that much? Two days in Oct to kill does and then again in Dec to kill more does. Really not losing that much time if you hunt the new seasons and since bucks don't matter the rut time lost shouldn't matter either unless the whole bucks don't matter talk was...

I'm sure that I can do it for a good cause. Other states to hunt too. Kentucky still has a long season...in the rut

No other choice of hunting tool allowed for the antlerless. I'll be out there with a bow saying," Run 'em to me boys!" Yes, there will be some gun shot archery bucks taken. But, one cant stop that.

You are correct Woody, it already happens without the new season. Shame people have to be that way.

I will. Not sure I will want to .... but I will be able to. They want us to hunt it so they canb say "see this all worked out ok" The best medicine would be to forgo all the special antlerless seasons and just hunt the standard seasons back off the doe herd for a couple of years and watch em cray foul the third year and ask us "What we want to do for deer seaon" but we will have to stay strong pass them does and make a mockery of the new laws that will speak louder than any voice! An extremely lopsided ratio wouldn't be bad.....if they rework the fees so that complaint of mine is mollified I MIGHT be willing to buy into playing that game.............take the first buck you see, spike, fork who cares & no does under any circumstances - just everyone do their part to skew the ratio. Only thing is you'd have to get alot of people on board for that to work - not an easy task.
