I think you are getting a bit paranoid on this. Take a word of advice, if you turned it over to the authorities then let it drop. Worrying like this isn't doing you any good at all. You're correct!! However you'd be a bit "Paranoid" too if you were sitting watching TV and hearing a shot and then finding out the bullet had the possibility of hitting your home, if the poacher missed the Deer. Yes, we're letting the Authorities handle this issue.

This is true... However, they've also got a deer killed in late bow season by a guy who has told them he's not a bow hunter...Be careful, though, about letting this guy know you're onto him... That's a good way to have a "robbery gone bad" at your house... Mike Mike, we already believe he already aware that we know about his illegal kill. He is the type person who would be about the first to call us concerning the poaching. He hasn't contacted us todate, which is NOT like him. IF HE OR ANYONE tries to breakin our home, which there is either me or my Brother here at all times, then they will be met with force as we're armed & NOT afraid to protect ouselves. As a sidenote....In light of what happen no one will ever be allowed to hunt on our property forever. I'm just sayin'... You're basically trying to put somebody in jail, and if they know you're the one doing it, you should probably watch your 6... Mike

Mike Mike, Neither me OR my Brother is afraid OR scared!! This Poacher may not go to jail but I do think he should pay a fine for taking a Deer Illegally.

When I first started hunting about 15 yrs ago the check in operator always came out to look and place the tag on my deer, but it rarely happens anymore.... I think sometimes becuz they dont come out to see the deer alot of guys lie about either what they have killed or what they killed it with, IMO. What keeps a guy from sayin he killed a doe knowin the checkin wont come look at it so he can try and harvest a bigger buck cuz he still has his tag ? Only reason I bring it up is becuz I once turned in a poacher for just that ! He shot a buck then tagged it as a doe and the check in never knew the difference, the deer was processed by the person who shot the deer and no one would of even had an idea of it if the poacher wouldnt have been someone I know. I cant stand poachers and if I catch wind of them I am quick to make the call to the DNR. If u cant do it legal dont hunt !!!!!! Hope the guy in ur case gets caught and pays for what he has done. I think that they should change the law so a check in has to examine the deer atleast to make sure it is atleast what the person says it is. My buddy was checkin in a couple does not too long ago right after the end of gun season and a guy was there checkin in a nice buck, my buddy went to lift the guys buck up to see the antlers better and noticed the deer had a huge hole on the opposite side, the guy immediately got defensive and said dont mess with my deer ! He was checkin it in as a bow kill and I am sure it was shot with a rifle... Since the check in operator never came out to look at the deer , the guy tagged it and drove off, my buddy didnt feel comfortable callin the guy out right there but recorded the guys plate number and called the DNR after he left, no word on what happened if anything. But thats my point if they dont ever come out to look at it guys that arent ethical are illegally taggin deer that they could of shot with whatever or whenever and no one will ever know. It doesnt seem like much to ask for a check in to walk there happy butts out of their establishment and look at teh deer a lil, might put a lil more pressure on poachers to do it the right way and quit breakin the law

NO Harvest check on Deer either by Telecheck or Check Station is foolproof. States must rely on Sportsmen to be honest in their checked-in harvest. The "Honor System" applies here in all cases.
