Just had a Neighbor drive-up and said he & other neighbors had several calls about this poaching incident. We're closer to finding the poacher as now we know that he was driving a maroon colored truck and there is only two in the area. Apparently other Neighbors saw this truck driving down the road and stopping. When he is caught is is going to be VERY bad for him as HE WILL GO TO JAIL!! ALSO, since he commited a crime with a firearm I will make note that he should never be allowed to own a firearm as long as he lives. HE BLEW IT BIG TIME!!!

I certainly will. I think a "name" will turn-up soon. I must tell you the though of a High Powered rifle bullet passing through your home is frightening. If he would have missed the bullet would have gone through the back porch window into the TV room where we were watching TV!

Plant something up near the road to prevent this in the future. Pine trees, even tall decorative grass or something so they can't see in there. If they can't SEE they can't shoot at you either!

I would bring everyone up-to-date on this poaching issue. I have VERY strong evidence that someone living down the road poached the Deer. He listed (Telechecked) it in on Dec. 30th as being an Archery kill, but I know this person doesn't bow hunt and he poached it with a rifle during late season archery on the evening of the 29th of December. Maybe I should call the Ky DNR Law enforcement and ask if they could drop-in on this guy and ask him to show them the Archery equipment he used??? Don't know what else to do.

Not trying to say they won't take action; but if you describe the event as you have here, I think that the DNR would be inclined to act quickly.

I can't see a guy who poaches deer taking one to a check station. Unless KY has telcheck, but I still can not see a poacher doing the telcheck thing. Just my opinion.

Drs said the guy Telechecked the deer. You can search KY's telechecked deer by hunter's name on the KY DNR web site. If there was still a deer season in, and you didn't have to show anybody your deer(which in IN no one has to look at your deer either) why not Telecheck it so you can process it without worry? If I poached a deer, I'd Telecheck it just so I was safe.

Not trying to say they won't take action; but if you describe the event as you have here, I think that the DNR would be inclined to act quickly. On December 31st. my Brother noticed a Ky DNR truck parked along our front field where the Deer was poached. I call the District 4 Head Conservation Officer and left a message for his to return my call. Will ask what leads they have or if they have a good case against this poacher. When he calls, I will tell him to check the Telecheck log in my County (Taylor) and he will see where one Deer was checked in on the 30th which a person living further down the road took. I will also make the suggestion that they drop-in on him and have him show them his Bow or Crossbow. Now I remember him telling my Brother & I he didn't bow hunt. So I am assuming that he shot this Deer, after legal hunting hours, with a rifle during late Archery Season. He then telechecked, the following morning (30th) as an archery kill. I still simple can't believe this happened as the guy, and his wife, are very nice. BUT that is NO excuse for poaching and especially firing a rifle near our home with our land being posted NO TRESPASSING OR HUNTING!

Aren't they SUPPOSED to look at your deer in Indiana and attach the metal tag themselves? I know they usually don't... but they are SUPPOSED to aren't they?
Any word on the law results?

He shot the Deer after legal hunting hours during late Archery Season, with a rifle, then called it in to the Telecheck and reported it as an Archery kill. The problem is He's NOT a Bow Hunter. This IMHO is a flaw in the "Telecheck System".
