It's not the rain & cold, but the 40+ mph winds that are forecast have me thinking about making Monday my "opening day".
Anybody else reconsidering going out in the morning? parson

Nope. Highest forecasted wind I see for tomorrow for the hunting area is 20 mph. Not enough to keep me out of the woods, though I may not stay in a stand for very long! My time in the woods has been short so far this season, so I've gotta make the best of it. I will be working at least one day next weekend, so this weekend may be all the chance I get before Thanksgiving.

The most deer I saw this year was that Sunday night a few weeks ago when the wind was blowing around 30 mph.

Bucks are chasing the does, so something tells me the wind isn't going to bother them one bit.

I might be cold, wet and miserable tomorrow but, not nearly as miserable as if I was sitting @ home looking out the window wishing I was hunting.....yes I will be out no matter what.

Woody, I was actually entertaining the thought of sleeping in tomorrow. But the "positive peer pressure" here has gotten me back on the right path.
I'll be out there tomorrow, Lord willing, confirming the wife's suspicions about my sanity! parson

The morning weather guy on fox59 (Indy) mentioned gusts in excess of 40mph. I just checked a weather site and it says gusts up to 30 mph for Saturday.
I'll actually be hunting in Clark County. Hopefully, it'll be a little calmer there. parson

I have never missed opening day of shotgun and I don't plan to start now. A cold windy wet day in the woods is better than the best day at work.

No ground but FWAs, so I'm waiting until my Late Park Hunt & Muzzleloader Season.
Besides, I've got to get my UDZ site ready. According to the property manager, the deer don't really start moving in until after Gun anyway.

Opening day, you know deer and hunters running around like a chicken with its head cut off......
wouldn't miss it for the world and betting the first shot I hear will be right at 1/2 before sunrise....
Them deer don't care about the weather.....

Yeah Yahoo says 40 mph gusts.... but the national weather service says 30.... not that it matters to me... I will be sitting in my stand all day (or until I score) in the rain, snow, cold, and wind.... I figure the people on the properties around will pack up and leave early causing even more deer movement in my area... and then when they come back for an evening hunt they will get them moving again....
