I hope I'm not the only one who feels like we are being taxed to death.Seems like everything around me is going up but my wages... property taxes went up,we have a new wheel tax in Law.co($25.00 a car, truck, motorcycles.etc, not to mention higher gas prices, higher food prices, stamps, gosh it's awful.I know America is the greatest country in the world, but heck why did we come here in the first place? To top it all off I see these folks who live off of the government who say they can't work and they seem to be getting along better than me.Most of our good paying jobs in this area have seem to made there way south across the border, and the company I work for seem to be hinting around about moving shop.I'm really starting to think it's costing me money to work. How do these companies and CEO's expect people to live off of $8.00-$10.00/hr?When they are making millions(ours makes around 10 million per year)I hope I can work for myself sometime soon..Corporate america is to darn greedy..

You're NOT alone on what you posted. Why do you think they call Indiana "The Land Of Taxes"? If our current Governor gets his way we'll be paying a "toll" on each highway we drive on just to pay for that I-69 better known as the N.A.F.T.A. Highway. Also did you know your elected congressman, and state officials get FREE Healthcare for life? If they had to pay their own Health premiums something would be done to prevent Gouging by the Health Insurance Companies. As for Gasoline we all should get ready to pay $3 to $4 per gallon as India and China economies grow, our oil supply will shrink and the price of crude oil will go up even higher. This will also cause the price of food to go up. Not really much of a future ahead for the USA.

It's an ugly fact, when uncle Sam takes 30-40% just in income taxes alone, then we are taxed more for everything we do. Drive, eat, drink, smoke, shop, hunt .....

DRS, do you ever have anything good to say about Indiana??? Is there anything good about Indiana in your opinion? Lord only knows Indiana residents are the only ones that feel we are over taxed!!!!

My wife is already exploring the possibility of being self employed due to back problems , and I'm fortunate to work in a field that would be difficult if not impossible to move south , but I'm still looking over her shoulder for possible avenues of part time profit . IDNR ain't the only ones who needs new revenue streams it would seem ...

I'll gladly pay what I do to live in this State / Country........well worth it in my opinion. Tough times are part of the deal...it could always be worse....WAY worse. Thank God for what we do have.

The State, as well as the people of Indiana, are okay. It's those who run the State that gives Indiana a "Black eye". When I travel to other States, or talk to people who live in States other than Indiana; I get the impression they think very little of our state. <Post Script> : The canned hunting bill HB1349 passed out of committee 11-1. One more reason other States look down on Indiana!

Your guess is as good as mine, but the ones in power now are not doing a very good job IMHO! Our current Govenor is for Big Business. He want to make toll roads here in Indiana, to build I-69, which is NOT needed and which I think is a Stupid waste of money. Are you willing to pay a toll on each highway you turn on to when traveling in Indiana?

I heard they want to make 37 a toll road to(which happens to be two miles from my house and I drive several times a day)I really wouldn't like that to happen.I remembered when Mitch was down here campaigning,he promised to get jobs down in this part of the state, seems like he's more concerned over daylight savings time and the cigerette tax hike.Is indiana really in a bad as shape as they say we are?

I know what he said he'd do for Indiana, but nothing has come about near what he said he'd do. <TYPICAL> Not only does he want to make toll roads here but wants to contract them out to foreign companies!!! I am glad I didn't vote for him as all I hear he is the worse Governor Indian has had in recent times. I doubt he'll get re-elected

I am certain you would not want to pay a toll on every highway while traveling in Indiana. Especially if part of that money, from tolls, is going to a foreign country, Would you??

I watched a little bit of the Gov. the other day. He was outlining his plan on the toll roads. Basically HE said it was illegal to make existing roads toll roads, and it was never his intention to make existing highways toll roads.
That is what I heard, from My Man Mitch's mouth. Now what the State does and what he says can be two different things. I don't normally hold much hope on what any elected official has to say, be it a d-RAT or republican.

First, unless you are an 18 year old, first time voter.... You should realize that most politicians on either side of the aisle want this, want that, promise this, promise that while on the campaign.... I think that generally they have good intentions on their promises/hopes....however once they actually get elected they discover how difficult it is to move their agenda forward. Mitch Daniels isn't the first person to not do everything promised...keeping in mind he hasn't been in office very long! That's the way the system works....beit right or wrong... I'm glad that no one person can wave a wand and everything they want happens. I'm a conservative republican, and I don't want a republican to have that power, and I dang sure don't want Hillary/Al/Bill/Ted to have that power as well. I just love the Chem-lawn people....thinking the grass is always greener on the other side. If so...than go ahead and move to the state that you think has it made....who's stopping you??? People in the poor counties of Indiana and moan about no jobs but when someone wants to build a factory, or a road to get to the factory they gripe and complain about ruining the environment. Always the "Not in my backyard" syndrome...... As Earl Pitts says, "Wake up America!"
