< The hole continues to get deeper> Camby I said I was against "HIGH FENCE" and with your flawed logic that would mean that I am anti-hunting! and Thanks but I dont need your google search cut-n-paste post about the " Pittman- Robertson act" to educate me on the facts... Nor will I fall for your "bait" in your other posts here about the X-bows and what not. Just another attempt to stir the pot.....

Dude,
With the uncertianity surrounding CWD, and the lack of a way to detect it in a living deer, coupled with the long incubation period.
AND
With the recent negetive exposure that Bellars Place has given deer hunting
AND
With the wishy-washy way that the former administration has "allowed" these places to operate in this state
It is very understandable why so many sporting folks in this state oppose "canned hunts".......
It seems that the canned hunt industry in this state has taken advantage of every loophole available....and then some!
If you are from another area of the country, and don't have intimate knowlege of the history of canned hunting facilities in this state, how small (acre) some of them are and the type shenigans some of these canned hunt operators have pulled.....it may be tough to understand why Hoosiers oppose them.
However, places like Big Oaks, Attebury and Crane do have high fences around those properties, and they do offer challenging hunts. Sure the fences are not escape proof, but there is not an escapable hole every hundred yards or so either! Also with the recent reports of Elk and other exotic critters running loose around in Indiana, an argument can be made that those fences are NOT escape proof either.
I would move to say that commercial canned hunts and large tracts of fenced land are two seperate issues. In many areas of the country high fence hunting ranches are doing very well. They seem to be playing by the rules their state has given them, and according to many, the hunts are very challenging. "The Sanctuary" in Michigan is probably one of the better known high fence places in this country. Texas is BOOMING with fenced ranches too!
High Fence hunting ranches do have a place in the hunting community, just NOT in Indiana. Hoosiers have spoke on this issue, and have made it clear, WE DON'T WANT IT HERE!
I don't think we really want baiting either. I don't think deer hunting with dogs would go over very well in Indiana....but they do it in other areas of the country.
To judge a person, based on ONE issue or position is not fair. I think one must look at all the current issues and make a judgement from there.
An example would be:
If someone constantly snub's their nose at additional hunting opportunities.
If someone constantly snub's their nose at additional weapon choices for hunters, even when the proposed additions don't offer anyone any advantage over the other hunters, or their prey
If someone constantly snub's their nose at folks useing the habitat and resources for recreation and preparing for the season
And if someone constantly wants other folks to change their habits and style of hunting, to benefit their style and habits.....
Then I would say that one would have to do some serious soul searching before proclaiming they are PRO-HUNTING.
I am not sure where you fall gundude, nor do I care!
This thread WAS about some "mis-information" that was going around. It was reported (by users) on this and several other sites that Ted Nugent (Himself) came out and called for folks to Boycott Indiana, and refuse to hunt, or buy a hunting license here.
I thought it was odd that a person as outspoken about hunting as Ted is, would do such a thing! And I would be VERY disappointed if in fact it were true.
I have not spoken to Ted himself, but I did have conversation with a person that had intimate knowlege of the situation. I reported back here with the results of that conversation....thats all.
I have never been a fan of Ted's music....I'm not much of a rock-n-roll guy. But he is still selling records, and I would think that selling records puts money in his wallet. Being an OUTSPOKEN supporter of hunting and HUNTERS has certianitly hurt his marketability to the Vegans and PETA type of freaks.....I assume that those type of folks also buy records (CD"s). Ted is a celeberty, and goes out on a limb for what he beleives in. Not many in his position is willing to do that now days, and the ones that do, have paid a severe price recently (Dixie Chicks).

CAMBY, This thread was never started for the purpose of divulging misinformation about Nugent. YOU know it, I know it, Woody knows it, and most that read this board knows it. It was just another lame attempt for you to try and stir the pot, grab some lime light and sing praises to someone that supports the Vertically challenged Archer. The evidence is clear by your later posts in CAMPFIRE about Pittman Robertson, High FENCE and CROSS BOW!..... You waffle on your positions and then try to stir up things in the hopes of getting someone that exposes the facts banned from the site. This making you look like some kind of champion for your cause I guess ........ AS I HAVE stated earlier, I was neutral about Cross bows but watching you and your tactics about pushing that agenda has soured me and swayed me to the other side........
Half truths, CRANE being a " high fence facility", taking time away from hunting is absurd, pro-hunting or not.. Please camby, put down the shovel, it's embarrassing.
