I already told you about the fawn and buck that came thru. A short time later I saw another deer way out in front of me. It was a small bodied raggedy 4 pt. He mosied in and to my left. Then came to an abrupt halt. Stuck his nose in the air and got all antsy. Don't know if he smelled me or what but he turned around and made a big circle and left to my left. He never got in a hurry. It was very close to sundown and I am thinking I had a good sit. I was listening to the squrrels scurrying around and one did not sound right so I looked to my left and there is a deer at 20 yrds comming from behind me. I have sat this aera numerous times and never had a deer come thru from that direction. I even have put trail cameras out and not gotten any pictures of deer from that way. To say I was surprised is an understatement. Just like the other deer it was in no hurry to go anyplace so I started easeing my crossbow around to that direction. I finally got it and me turned just as it stepped out from behind a big tree and stopped. Picked the spot and shot. It took off and I saw it start to falter at 80ish yards then heard the crash. As soon as all was quiet I hear more crunching and look left again and another deer is standing there looking where the other deer ran. Now the fun begins. My cross bow has a crank, I have to detach the crank and get it inguaged. Then because of all the excitement I for got I have to push a button and slide the carriage down and attach it to the string so detach crank, push button ,slide carriage down, attach crank start cranking, carage comes up string dont. What the heck. Oh ya, ya got to shove carriage into string hard so it engages. All this while watching the deer and trying to not draw attention. So it is detach crank, push button, slide carriage down, push carriage till feel it engage, attach crank push button so it doesn't go click click click as I crank, and crank. Unattached crank, now try to get arrow out of quiver and on bow. I got all that dune and did not scare the deer off. I can't believe it. Now maneuver bow into a firing posision and wate for the deer to give me a shot. A few seconds later she takes a step and stops 13 yards broad side and I pulled the trigger. She takes off on the same trail as other deer but soon peels off to the right and makesa semicircle and goes down in sight at 50ish yards. As soon as she crashes a buck comes running in from the thicket and goes to her and just walked around her I don't know how meny times. He was not big but I would have shot him if he gave me a shot but he didn't and I couldn't because I only had 2 arrows and they are both stuck in the dirt to my left. He stayed so long I ran my bow down on the rope and had all my stuff packed so I could get down as soon as he left. Which I did after dark. I can't post pictures and do HI with out loosing one or the other so I will post this, co copy pictures then come back and edit this and install picture and doo it all over again for next picture Onebentarrow This is the little fawn bedded behind the stand at 35 yds Here are the two deer after getting them pulled out with the ATV. They are dress out and loaded in the truck and I am sitting in camp smiling, cuckeling, and relieving the hunt. It wasn’t just a good day it was a great day. Life don't get no better than this. Onebentarrow Congrats on both of them! I bet the adrenaline was rushing!

Two does just fed past in the open woods at 70 yards. Pretty slow here.

Using my climber today. Hiked all the way to the top of the ridge, climbed all the way up the tree, started hoisting my pull-up rope, only to find no crossbow on the end! I had it clipped on well, so no idea how it came unhooked. Had to climb all the way down, dismount, hook up crossbow again, and climb back up the 20 feet. Whew! That sounds like something I would do or have dune Onebentarrow

Only other sighting for me was some turkeys. Got down and put a cam up on a trail that has a nice fresh scrape to see what’s around.

Shot a buck at 12:15. Not huge, but nice enough for my first non vertical bow kill in 30 years. The crossbow drilled him at 10 yards as he was trailing a doe.

Getting ready to roll only to figure out the arrows didn’t make the trip 🤦🏻♂️

Back in the same blind as yesterday. I don't usually like to archery hunt in the rain but, it'll be moving out soon and it provides a nice entry. I'm glad I wore the Frogg Togg's too. I got about a hundred yards from the truck and it started coming down quite harder.
Good luck everyone! Hunt safe and God bless!

Well ended the day with a doe count of 11 and a 130-140 class 10 point. No shots on the doe's but still enjoyed the time in the woods for sure

First crossbow buck. My plan was to climb down at noon, but a doe had other plans and bedded just over the property line from me right out in the open woods. So, I was pinned in my climber. Somewhere around noon, two more does showed up.and the bedded one stood up. Then I noticed a buck circling around them. The once-bedded doe wanted no part of him and jumped the fence to my side and settle in some thicker stuff in front of me. The buck paced back and forth along the fence, making little grunts now and then. He started to rear up and jump a couple of times, but hesitated. The doe stood firm and didn't move. The other does wandered off. At one time, I thought he was going to follow them. Finally, he committed and jumped. He stood statue still in the thick stuff, while she slowly browsed towards the logging road right in front of my tree. Once she finally cleared the brush, she crossed the logging road and passed me on the left side, heading behind me. The buck couldn't stand it anymore and started heading towards me. But, instead of following her exact path, he turns left still just inside the brush, and is angling towards me, but to my right. Perhaps the doe was walking behind me to the right, but I didn't check. Anyway, there was only one opening, and he was fast approaching it. I had the Wicked Ridge Fury 410 crossbow resting on the shooting rail, but he was too close. I had no choice but to half stand quickly in order to lower the front of the crossbow. He hit the opening at the same time my scope came down into it, and I fired quickly. The shot was at 12:15 PM. He took off running at the shot, and I saw the entrance wound. He ran to my right down the logging road, and stopped around 60 yards down it when he came to an intersection. I saw his head turn side to side, then his tail started wagging very fast. In an instant, he staggered and fell. Two days into my season, and I'm probably done for the year -- unless my buddy wants a doe later from his property. I pulled my camera tonight, as I sure don't want any monster buck pics to make me regret filling my tag so quickly. Lol! The buck had 10 points when the velvet came off. His right G4 was broken off at the main beam, and he had a point about midway around his left main beam on the inside that had grown horizontally over his head that was also broken off. He had also broken off part of his left brow tine. EDIT: Video of him pacing the fence: youtu.be/u-FgR3Tte1Y
