Nothing here today so far. I blame it on the wind It’s coming it’s going it’s blowing every direction today. We gotta start packing it in at 6 to make it out by the deadline of 8 that’s unfortunately the payment to hunt here. Someone is way up north

I thought he was at Big Oaks? He is. He's on the northern end more than likely. Gotta leave early when you're on that end to get back in time

My brother and brother-in-law, and I just got back from our annual HNF trip late last night. We went down this past Wednesday and hunted/camped for 3 days. I have never seen so much buck sign and so few deer. We did a ton of scouting and found 4-5 or places where it was fresh scrapes and rubs for as far as the eye could see. However, the hunting was absolutely terrible. 😂 My brother was 2 steps from a nice 8, but other than that, we really didn’t have any shot opportunities. Another thing that was really weird was in the past, we have only seen a handful of bucks but we usually see a ton of does. This year, we saw a total of 16 deer. Only one was a doe and she was in estrous as 5 bucks were chasing her full speed. Even though we couldn’t tag a buck, we still had a great time. [img src="https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20241026/484be76b73c66c111f084a5b4d040d8d.jpg" I am sure that was fun. What part of HNF do you hunt? Hunting HNF is tough. The woods are big and the deer are very skittish. Not an easy task to kill one.

Pretty cool y’all get together and do that each year. It’s a good trip! Lots of fun for us northern flatlanders to head down south and hunt some hills.

The woods are big and the deer are very skittish. Not an easy task to kill one. We have been going to the crooked creek access point on the extreme east side of Monroe. We’ve killed deer there in the past. This was by far the worst hunting we’ve had there. It is tough; the deer are super skittish and the wind swirls all over the place back in those ridges and draws. We found so much big, fresh sign, but getting on the deer during shooting hours was tough. Plus the ground is covered in super crunchy leaves. Tough but to crack, but always a lot of fun anyway.

Well I'm trying to get caught up on the forum action but it appears that I'm not the only 1 not having any luck. Been tied up with the "Work Life" and working 6 10+ hrs days building bridges in Henderson KY. I'm planning on going out in the morning solo, but I'm really just going out for a "Escape" if you will. No intentions of seeing or harvesting anything, I just need to gather my thoughts and get snapped back to my roots. Not use to being "solo" but I can't see having my hunting buddy with me for just 1 day of hunting.

Not quite that many hours, but I'm beating the concrete in a diesel shop, so it's plenty for this tired body. I was happy to just sit in the woods this morning, even tho just for squirrels. We didn't make it to the deer woods Sat night. But we got a lot accomplished, so that's fine. Planning to hunt Sunday morning. Good luck all, catch you in the morning.

Gotta leave early when you're on that end to get back in time Area 31 Northern end, I walked all the way back to within 75 yds of the NHZ Been back there before only in 29 I’m not much of a fan of the smaller trees in the lower units. May go even further north next time.

I *might* be able to get out for an evening hunt. A single evening before gun season. Leaving the main property that I can hunt I saw 10-12 deer in and around the food plot then not 300 yds away another 8 in another small field.

I'm solo, so I figured I'd give Hovey Lake in Posey County a try. Already seen 9 on the way in on the county road, so maybe I'll have some luck. New location, no clue where to go, OnX doesn't give me much Intel other than I'm on legal ground. Sounds like it might just be a good day lol

In the blind with my daughter this morning. Jumped two getting down here. We shall see what the morning brings. She says her first deer is going to be buck only, so I’m shooting should we have any does come in.

First trip in the deer woods for us, minus youth season.
Luke is behind my stake out turkey blind, over looking a scrape on the edge of one food plot with lots of picture traffic. He is on his own today.
I'm up on a ridge by our other food plot.
We got pics of some nice deer recently, so hoping we see some action. Good luck men.

I made it out this morning, on stand right now. Was able to walk 600 yards to stand around 6:30. The knee aches a little being at 90 degrees bent all the time. I hang it over the foot rail at times.. No deer so far. I'm at last year stand location, where I took my buck.
