Never hunted waterfowl before, but this year I’m planning to give it a shot on the Veteran hunt days. When it says you have to buy a duck stamp, do you get those at the post office? And what do you do with it after you buy it? It’s the only thing I haven’t done yet. I know the wardens don’t play when it cones to ducks, so I want to make sure I have my stuff together.

Yes, you have to sign it. I buy my federal. Sign it while on the card, for some reason, then transfer that to the back of my ltl. I write the hip# along the edge as well.
State has a stamp as well but I don't think it is an actual stamp, just an add on to state tags.
Green jeans will check all licenses and stamps, hip#, shotgun for a plug if auto or pump and shells for lead shot. Add more checks if using a boat or canoe or on public land where you have to log in and out

So if I take them (one for me And one for my son) stick them to the back of my disabled Hunter placard I won’t be out of regs.

Do you have the State Waterfowl Stamp ( it's no longer a stamp it's actually a print out ) If you take a very close look you will see that it is still a stamp affixed to that card, and it's still called a DUCK STAMP. The stamp can be used for United States postage, or entry to National Park systems. It is not necessary to sign your stamp any more, it is printed right on the front of the stamp card "IF APPLICABLE SIGN YOUR STAMP" I don't because I collect them. I have been checked and have had no problem with a non-signed stamp and in addition you don't need to affix it to your license. I have a life time license and there is no way to apply it to the license. The United States Postal service or the United Fish and Wildlife Service will tell you that they were no longer able to find the needed paper for printing moisture activated stamps. This really dropped the bottom out of DUCK STAMP COLLECTING.

I bought mine at the post office. Signed it along with my HIP# and laminated it. It should be good to sit in my blind bag all season.

You may have to check a couple of different post offices. Where I used to live one local PO had them and the other didn't. Something along the lines of they have to purchase them and resell them so they only order so many per year.

So here’s a question. I haven’t bought a state waterfowl stamp for years, I have an LTL for about 30 years. I have a son and a nephew that are both 15, all 3 of us get a federal stamp, but I’ve never gotten a state stamp for them. We all 3 get our HIP numbers too. Do I need state stamps for these 2 kids? Never thought I did but now I’m wondering. Maybe this should be in the “ask the CO” thread.
