Three more for team 3. Going to tear my gun apart and clean/inspect everything. I should have easily had a limit today as the spot I hunted had quite a few squirrels. However, my gun is only going bang about a quarter of the time.

Believe just Deer,Turkey and migrating birds are the NO Baiting game! You might be right. I wasn’t sure. I wasn't sure to begin with but then looked it up to be sure. I know some people having issues with baiting small games and to me it does take away a lot of the fun of pursuing. I might just set up a feeder and a trail camera to get a better understanding about if there s still abundant number of them in that area and their daily routine.

Went out to a public FWA around 8 AM. Heard a lot birds singing, even saw a few squirrles running, but none of them were in good shooting range or position. Thinking about using some peanuts as bait next time. Anyone had any experience with baiting? The hickory tree is nature's bait pile this time of year. Of course it never hurts to spray down with a generous amount of almond extract before hitting the woods.

Well I screwed up and told my grandson we’d squirrel hunt tonight. Then Grandma reminded us that he has an Indianapolis Junior Golf banquet tonight. He’s lobbying for hunting instead🤷♂️

I guess Grandma new best. No squirrel hunt last night. But Tyler ended up Player of the Year and walked away with the trophy and a few hundred dollars worth of SWAG and golf outings. A huge thank you to PGA Pro golfer Patrick Rodgers as he contributes a ton of money to the cause!

In deadeers defense, they do make a horrible scream! You would never believe it could come out of the little critter mouth. We use to trap them back when I was a kid when fur was worth something, don't recall ever seeing one alive though or screaming. We caught them in conibears. Mink and weasels are viscous. I caught a least weasel in a #1 Longspring that had a mouse in it's mouth that was at least half as big as it was. A friend of Mom & Dad's son was getting into taxidermy and said he'd try to mount it but it was too small for him to work with. I was salmon fishing at the Main Street Bridge in Mishawaka one day and watched a mink run in and out of every crevice on the North bank of the river. That was cool.

However, my gun is only going bang about a quarter of the time. If you are using Rem Oil as lube, toss it in the trash and get something else. A buddy was having constant problems of failure to feed and failure to fire. I looked at it, couldn't find anything wrong, used a different oil and never had an issue. I gave him a small bottle of it and his problems went away. Take the bolt apart and clean out the firing pin slot too.

I never seen a weasel, I've always wondered how big they got and what they looked like in real life.

I found that the bolt face had some crud built up on it right next to the extractor. I think this may have been part of my issue, preventing the case from sitting firmly against the bolt. It was not an insignificant amount. Also, when disassembling the bolt, it looked like the pin that the firing pin return spring rests against had backed out a little bit. Firing pin may not have been held fully rearward while waiting for the hammer to strike. Got that taken care of and got everything slicked up and cleaned out. I've always been stingy with the lube as I figured it may cause more of the powder residue to stick to the oil and gum things up. Now that she's cleaned up, maybe a bit of oil wouldn't hurt?

Take a can of lube out in the field with you. If you are still having problems, lube the bold and see if that helps. Some guns like to be run dry, others like to be run wet.

Please add one for Team 3. Beached and went up into the woods as soon as I got to the lake. Last time I saw the forecast it was for 5 mph wind. Ended up being quite a bit more than that. Gave up after getting this one and fought the wind fishing. Forgot to take a pic until I was almost half done with the fish. Ended up with a dozen bluegills. Personal total is 6.

You're more than welcome to come here and clean some bluegill out of our pond, it's getting overloaded with them. I just pitch them myself, not enough meat on them to pay for cleaning them, too many bones. I haven't caught any bass in their for years because of all the pan fish, redears in there too. I've stocked largemouth and stripers both a few times trying to help clean them out but they just multiply too quick. I'm thinking of putting some crappie in there too.

Surprised it wasn't a dozen squirrels and one bluegill with your luck. 😂😂😂 Congrats on your successes! 😇

I would, but that's a 3 1/2 hour drive to get up there. I had a guy that managed a decent sized pond that told me to keep whatever size bluegill I caught; none of them were to go back in the water. If they were too small to keep, pitch them in the weeds so the possums and coons had something to eat. He always had good size bluegills and crappie in there.
