The welding lens I have is level 11. I glanced at the sun the other day with it and haven't noticed any issues yet but I heard NASA recommending a level 14. I have a project in Bloomington that was supposed to start next week but they pushed it off until 4/10 just so we don't have to deal with the mess that is projected there. My employer is wanting to get a photo with everyone during the eclipse so I will be at work.

I was going to pick up fish in Arkansas on 4-9 and they told me to come a week earlier. They said hotels were $500/night and the state will increase in population by 25% just because of the eclipse.

Right now the weather is saying rain. Where are you at? Our weather might be clear.... At least it's clear a few days beforehand. We're gonna chase down clear skies of it isn't. Via a club member's eclipse talk I learned that about half of the historically predicted cloud coverage for April 8th has generally been partly cloudy skies or high cirrus clouds. So that drastically increases the chance of a nice day.

We're going to a Purdue Forestry and Natural Resources property on that side of Indiana. And yes, looks like that region has the highest chance of clouds that day, sadly. I so don't want clouds. My dad didn't get to take work off for the 2017 eclipse, so he only saw the partial eclipse from his workplace near Lafayette, IN. He's going with us this time, because all the schools got that day off or virtual. Also we will have a friend from Virginia with us who is taking the train out here just to see the eclipse. I really don't want her to come all the way out here then it be cloudy. Also we'll be using the astronomical club's solar telescope and my binoculars. Would be a shame to take them out there then they not get used. Oh well, at least if it's cloudy it will still get dark.

We don't go over to Eastern Indiana often.

Can't believe all the ruckus. Many schools closed. Ours is holding them a few minutes over, and keeping everyone inside all day. Youd think the sky was falling or something. As usual, my job/work will not be effected, so I can't make any noise about it. 😝

Ivy Tech went virtual for the day. Hardly affects me though as my class is Tuesday and Thursday.
We've kept a close eye on the weather, and so far it's gone from rain and clouds to sun and partly cloudy in the afternoon in both Eastern and Southwestern Indiana, with a potential for clouds to move in earlier as this system appears to be pushing forward slightly faster day by day. We have the best chance of seeing the eclipse at home, where we will not be because we are not in totality.
Looking at the weather forecast we decided that it might be better if we look at Southwestern Indiana, around Vincennes and down into Posey County, as potential places to go. So now we will make the decision on where to go on Sunday, then plan accordingly. A 3 hour drive to Eastern IN for nearly 3 minutes of totality and a chance of clouds, to a 4 hour drive to southern IN for about 4 minutes of totality and very slightly more of a chance of clouds.

I sure hope I can get out of Cleveland today. I would’ve thought the lack of hotel rooms would be due to them hosting the women’s NCAA finals. Not the case. Most rooms have been booked for over six months due to the eclipse. I was supposed to be on a job in Ottawa Ohio on Monday. We just rescheduled that, due to the craziness of the eclipse.

Fueled vehicles last night right before the thieves gouged the price up 18 cents a gallon. The city has been warning us for months of massive amounts of traffic Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I actually thought about taking Abbie fishing on Glendale to watch the eclipse, but not if traffic is that bad. Might make it difficult getting the boat out and back into the city limits. We might just go into hunker-down mode for a few days and hopefully skip the crowds.

Here how I feel..
I’m not traveling anywhere to see it. If I can’t see it from my backyard - forget it.
I’ll wait for thenext one in 20 years. 😉

Nashville is getting prepped for everyone. Someone told me the news said it could take up to 9 hours to get from Columbus to Bloomington at the height of the traffic. I don’t even see how that’s possible, but who knows.

Expecting 60,000 people here they are saying. Fair grounds is already full with campers. We were told this week a chance of no school on Tuesday either with all the traffic in town.

Eclipse traffic will be crazy no matter where you live. Even the back country roads could get clogged. I've heard of that happening. So don't be surprised if you live in or near the path of totality if people start showing up needing a spot for a quick break.
