I saw a big buck again today. I think it’s the same one that’s been at my place since at least Tuesday. Hopefully he stays around until Saturday. I think he’s been with a doe all this time, so that’s a big ask.
I can’t hunt tonight, I’ll sit in the rain tomorrow afternoon, then the rifle comes out Saturday.

Have you ever measured the noise level it’s at now? An average .308 suppressor will drop the decibel level down to around 130 dB. OSHA considers hearing damage from impulse noise to be 140 dB and above. My particular.308 suppressor knocks 30 dB off versus unsuppressed. Compare that to various earplugs and muffs to get a good comparison of noise reduction. At 130 I would still wear ear protection…. www.asha.org/public/hearing/loud-noise-dangers/#:~:text=A%20single%20loud%20blast%20or,come%20from%20gunfire%20or%20fireworks.

Activity will probably pick up this afternoon before rain begins tonight. I will be clearing the gutters of the widow across the street and getting my trailer back into shape this afternoon. I am off Friday, but it is now calling for 90% chance of rain. Don't think I'll hunt. Blood is hard enough to find being colorblind. Would be impossible for me to find it with everything wet and washing it away, too. Maybe I'll go fishing if it isn't a very hard rain. Fishing in November....some of best fishing I've ever done.

I'm finding fish, just not many big ones.

Took the afternoon off work today to get one final sit before the orange army invasion begins. Hopefully the rain that is forecasted for tonight has them on their feet tonight. Good luck to anyone else still in the fight.

Be careful out there in this wind this afternoon, I just had a pretty good size limb from a big dead dry tree come crashing down not far from me.

Remember, a gunshot is "impulse noise", not continuous. 139 dB is considered hearing safe if it is an instantaneous noise.

Got my neighbor all set up for Saturday. Took a venetian camo like thing for some behind his back coverage. Got him my blind seat so he can pivot around and trimmed some stuff out of his way. He is one tough ole buzzard....always telling me "I aint quittin"
Sighted in my CVA Optima LR....really like that gun but have yet to make a kill with it. I think I am in the market for another HPR for next year.....$85/20 is the cheapest I've found 270 WSM cartridges.....a little salty.

Back to “live from the deer woods”..
In this case from the food plot.
First this year hunting it.
Scrapes on the path in have been freshened and a lot of those rubs were not there when I weed whacked.
Food plot looks pretty danged good considering we did not get a lot of rain at first.
The food plot post has been rubbed and there is a scrape on the other side of the plot.
Wind is fickle but it's too late to worry about that.
Feels good being in here!
Good luck all and I’m as much to blame git getting off topic.

Just read a facebook post from James Kroll AKA: Dr. Deer. (He is hunting in Kentucky this week.) Said after consulting with other biologist and wildlife professionals they are saying due to drought conditions in much of midwest and south this summer that we are experiencing a "trickle rut". Would explain lack of activity.

I have a total of 11 days off work starting last Thursday. I've saw a ton of movement. Last couple days have been slow. I did see a shooter this morning chasing a doe but couldn't get a shot. I feel like I'm disappointed every November because I want shooters to show up & stand right in front of me right away then I can hunt Illinois.
