Had my least eventful sit of the year tonight. Saw 4 does 300 yards out in the field 10 minutes before the end of legal. That was it. Still a really nice evening to be in a tree.

Got down at shooting light after not seeing any all day.. ..took ONE step, snapped a twig and had a doe blow at me from maybe 50 yds behind me......SMDH. I had that happen last weekend, only it wasn't a twig. It happened as soon as I turned on my headlamp.

I’m going to hold you responsible for the rest of my days. 🤣 To be fair, my wife told me to sit in the other stand and I didn’t listen to her. We’ll never know what I missed out on.

I'm guessing a 184" nontypical.... broadside....24 yards..... looking away....front leg on your side was positioned forward.... standing there for 7 minutes. Other than that, no other deer went by.

youtube.com/shorts/1e9p0gbQHOg?si=eB-HwGK87-Ak-FvTBreaking out the waders to get perfect access and a pretty scent free entry! I hope to find a good tree (cover and bark wise) down wind and shootable of where two travel corridors connect, about 150 yards from the core of that action (brassica and greens plot). Tomorrow should be fun !

Got down at shooting light after not seeing any all day.. ..took ONE step, snapped a twig and had a doe blow at me from maybe 50 yds behind me......SMDH. I can imagine what that was like! I've had something similar happen. Year ago, in my 2nd year of hunting, Dad had taken me out to our hunting area for an evening crossbow hunt. I was sitting in our stand along a forest road, and he was 100 yards away on the other side of a ravine. About 10 minutes before shooting light ended I decided to get down. Dad finally gave me the go-ahead to do so, and I got down after taking a quick look around. Well, got down, got the crossbow untied from the hauling rope, started walking out, and.... I hadn't even heard the big 10 pt coming right up the forest road. I walk out from the brush and look up to see a big deer with 10 pts standing about 5 ft away and he had just looked up at me too. We scared each other pretty bad, but I got some time to take a look at him. Lesson learned: Don't get down before shooting light ends if you haven't shot a deer and always have an ear/eye out for deer while prepping to get down! Deer hunting with a buddy in Wi during gun season a while back. He walking down a fire trail about an hour after daylight with his gun on his shoulder (about 4" snow on the ground) and came up to the top of a hill at the exact time that a 10 pt did the same thing from the opposite direction. I don't know who was more surprised, the deer took off, my buddy got the rifle off of his shoulder and was able to shoot the deer when it stopped about 100 yds away and looked back. At the shot the deer took off and he called me saying that he needed help tracking a deer that he shot. (In the snow? O.K.) He came and got me and we found the deer about 200 yds later. Liver and one lung but the deer was dead. I sent him back to the cabin to get the sled while I field dressed it. It took us 5 hours to get it out of the woods. (Maybe 1+ mile from the truck over a BUNCH of windblown trees.) For a number of years he stopped hanging the rifle on his shoulder, but he's back to doing it again.

Just got settled in. Forgot the binoculars and rangefinder. Lucky I still have the bow mounted rangefinder so I’ll be able to get through.

I was going to switch a camera card out on my way in this morning, but there wasn’t a card to switch out. I absolutely can’t stand a scumbag thief!!! 😡

I’m going to take the next couple days off and get back out Saturday morning. My wife bought me a “nukem” blind so I’m going to take my Super Blackhawk and sit under a tree this weekend.

Had one in behind me. Must have smelled me as it blew. Just got a glimpse of it. Couldn't tell buck or doe
