Brother ran into a DNR officer at the restaurant this morning. She said they took 77 deer from tippacanoe yesterday. Only one nicer 10 point. Rest does and younger bucks.

Congrats to those the last couple days getting it done. I haven't been getting anything on the cams for the last week, a doe and basket 6 is the only thing. Hope things start to turn around a little, those bucks should be breaking off any does they have been tied up with. Getting the last of my stuff together today and jump on that plane tomorrow. Visit with family on Wednesday and head to the cabin on Thursday morning. Good luck and straight shots to those out right now.....SF Woody

I probably saw 10 or 12 deer today but couldn’t get a shot. Either didn’t have a shooting lane or they were passing through at a jog. Tomorrow I’m trading the Mathews for the crossbow. I’m done playing games. Good luck using that crossbow. Crossbow worked great! I saw him twice yesterday but didn’t shoot him, then last night I was reading the hunt info again and found out you don’t have to use your own tags because it’s a reduction hunt. So he came by again this morning at about 1030 and he stopped 15 yards away to munch on a walnut. It was his last walnut lol

Unexpectedly finished a customer’s job early today… going to get in a tree. Now the tough question: east stand of middle stand? Lol

Back out in Ohio again. Got here a little later than yesterday. As I was looking for a tree to hang my camera on a well used trail I found yesterday, my call cam went off across the valley. Had a 2.5 yo 8 point munching down on the corn. He was here about 40 mins. Gave him time to move off and set up where I did last night.

Got in here a little after 3. Heard some grunting and chasing then quiet. A little later, a doe came into the food plot and started feeding. A nice buck came in and she ran off, him on her tail. He never did completely leave the brush about 40 yards away, and I’m not sure if he is a shooter or not, but looked pretty good from what I could see.

youtube.com/shorts/JY8q42y8pJY?si=GVgTZEMqGhCLPibvMy 3.5 year old has accompanied me on exactly half of my sits this year thus far, and his 1.5 year old brother has sat once as well ! Lots of good talks being had , like this short one in the link. Answering all of the “why’s” thrown at me while teaching him to ninja as best I can 🤣 I don’t make him go. I always just ask him if he wants to go hunting , or if he wants to stay home. We always always end up just scaring deer , and I love every minute that of it (even when I’m cringing 😅) ! He was gettIng restless so I asked him if he was ready to go home , and he said he was. On the walk back to the truck he said “ I don’t think we saw any deers because it isn’t dark yet!” . I told him he was probably right ! We didn’t see a single deer in cut cornfields on the way home. This year I’m most thankful for finding best friends in my children. Good luck to all and congratulations to everyone that has been successful so far ! I may just shoot a dink and get a shoulder mount to remember this year by if I can’t get on a 4-5 year old. If I do decide to go that route, he will be there. Either way, this years mount will be special!

Moved one of my climbers about 75 yrds today which will be better for gun hunting. Checked my camera and my big target buck was on it yesterday at 8:30am. He was 15 yrds from that stand. I hunted a different property because I hunted that spot quit a bit last week. Grrrrr. Hopefully he slips up in gun season before someone else gets him.

All the does in my area must be bred, as 90% of my photos are lone does with an occasional small buck by itself as well, and the does I saw in person over the weekend were just casual with no bucks harassing them. Lol!

Got down at shooting light after not seeing any all day.. ..took ONE step, snapped a twig and had a doe blow at me from maybe 50 yds behind me......SMDH. I can imagine what that was like! I've had something similar happen. Year ago, in my 2nd year of hunting, Dad had taken me out to our hunting area for an evening crossbow hunt. I was sitting in our stand along a forest road, and he was 100 yards away on the other side of a ravine. About 10 minutes before shooting light ended I decided to get down. Dad finally gave me the go-ahead to do so, and I got down after taking a quick look around. Well, got down, got the crossbow untied from the hauling rope, started walking out, and.... I hadn't even heard the big 10 pt coming right up the forest road. I walk out from the brush and look up to see a big deer with 10 pts standing about 5 ft away and he had just looked up at me too. We scared each other pretty bad, but I got some time to take a look at him. Lesson learned: Don't get down before shooting light ends if you haven't shot a deer and always have an ear/eye out for deer while prepping to get down!
