Where you at bowonly. I know N part of the state is just starting to get good. hour north of Indy. The weeds will be so tall next weekend you'll have to trip over them to find them. But I will be out again. Hopefully find enough for my mom and mom in law.

Every single Popular tree I looked under has numerous rooms. Wish that was the case at our house. Plenty of poplars, but no shrooms.

I know better than to even look again with the weather we’ve had. I’ll check it this weekend, hopefully some have decided to be brave and sprout.

Went out yesterday evening to check on my blind for the morning hunt and found the first morels of the season. We got better than an inch of nice slow rain the last 2 days and it got them going. This warm weekend should be real good

Last night was my 4th trip this year. First was too late to hit the black sponge and I only found one dried one. Second trip was the pic of the sink. Completely filled my largest glass mixing bowl and was enough that it fed 5 and we should have had leftovers, but I about made myself sick batting cleanup. 😁 3rd trip netted only 3 in an area where I had found several before, but it had been a high traffic area and looked like cows had been turned loose with all the leaves disturbed and mayapples trampled. Last night's pick was along an old fence line. Would find one or two and then go 15 yards or so and find one or two more all along the fence remnants. My "normal" patch hasn't produced yellows for about 3-4 years. Most everything I've found has been 4-5" tall.

87 tonight 1.23 lbs. Saturday will be my last hunt Why quit Saturday? You’ve been killing it, and still finding. I lied when I said I wouldn’t go till the weekend, went out this evening for about 10 minutes. Found 5 more that we either didn’t see over the weekend or were new. Left em till the weekend.

You can tell when its about over. I divide my woods into 2 parts so I have 2 sections to hunt. The part last night was last hunted Sunday. I could tell these all were older probably missed Sunday. I looked at area I picked Tuesday and there were no new mushrooms. Woods is getting really thick and grown up.

I'd been 4-5 times and found very few so figured just a bad year for my spots. Went last night though (same places) and found 150 or so and all fresh. Gonna try it again today at another spot. Southern Jackson County.
