Budd, the "bluegill" in the center of the picture isn't a pure bluegill, it is a cross between a BG and something else. What other fish are in the lake? Part of lake Winnibigoshish. 56,471 acres. About everything in there. Thanks!

We are supposed to have highs in the 30's and 40's for the next 10 days starting tomorrow. That is above zero, not below.

Made it out to the river. Had a nice fish long enough to see it surface but not sure what it was. Thinking a 30 inch walleye...give or take. 1st cast too. Ended up with a 4 inch drum and good fresh air.

Maybe 8-10 years ago I had a small 40 acre beaver pond I used to wheeler in to to trap beaver and otter, I remember seeing good sized bluegill but never went back in to fish it...until today!! My son Brian, Brother Rick and myself snowmobiled in and we had a blast, Im guessing this pond has never been fished. Most times the beaver ponds are stunted but this one I guess has survived somehow. Fish fry tomorrow! Look at the size of that pumpkinseed!!!

There's another Pumpkinseed (PS) in the picture below the one on the scale. Look for the fish that has a red spot on it's opercular (ear tab).
The closer I look at the one on the scale I *think* it is a hybrid cross between a PS and a BG. I have caught crosses like that in Lake Minocqua in Wisconsin. I have heard of straight PS getting up to 15 3/4" and 1.38# but the biggest one I have personally seen was only 8" long.
Those are some NICE fish!!

Had the lake to ourselves today but fishing was terrible. I only caught 1 decent perch, a bass, several small pile and 1 pout. With in seconds of each other my brother caught a pout also a few hundred yards from me. Snowstorm coming in tomorrow, I’m heading for my little walleye lake. Always produces in snowstorm.

The pond is still roughly 7 feet low, but it's completely ice free today. Trout were eating the fish food.
